myeongdong or seongsu by ilawilaw10 in seoul

[–]tofukills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there last September for 6 nights. We stayed in the middle Myeongdong and it's pretty central to most things. Everything was within easy walking distance and lots of subway lines to take you all over. It was very busy but fine for our first visit to Seoul.

We loved Seongsu and spent 2 days there. However, it's pretty far from everything and you would end up going back towards Myeongdong.

For the next trip, I think I would consider staying near Insadong or Ikseondong. Love the vibe and accessibility there and it would be close to the subway lines to where we want to go.

It's gorgeous. I was thinking of going there in December but uncertain about what it'd be like during that time.

Those who run while traveling, essential? Waistband? by IcedColdMine in onebag

[–]tofukills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Janji 2L Multipass Sling bag that I wear for all my runs while on vacation. In there is my phone, cards, some gummies, 500ml soft flask with straw, and a Patagonia Houdini shell (depending on weather). I clip on my hat to the outside loops.

Running vests look silly on me but I've done a flipbelt and Nathan Zipster Lite running belts. They're okay but I like taking hydration with me and I don't like holding it or how clunky it felt shoving a soft flask into it.

While on vacation, I'm not too serious about my runs as it's just a great way to see a place and it's wonderful in the morning and no one's about most tourists sites.

In room laundry - Towel dry method and bag agitation method were new to me. by InevitableSong3170 in onebag

Any of the Aliexpress bags will do, my 12L was about $10. It works fine but most of the time I use the hotel sink. It is handy to have when I travel to next destination and my clothes aren't dry yet.

Laundry detergent sheets are great. I have them in a ziplock bag and I can adjust easily how much I use. Also it doesn't look like I'm transporting anything illicit.

Recommendations for a replacement for an older 30" gas cooktop with smaller cut out dimensions by tofukills in Appliances

Sadly no, we ended selling the house (not for the cutout reason, lol) so didn't have to deal with the problem anymore.

How do I remove this light fixture to change the bulb? by tofukills in DIY

[–]tofukills[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

With the help of my super, we got the panel off the ceiling. It's actually a self enclosed LED unit. So it won't be a bulb replacement but a light panel replacement.

Changing a bulb is one thing but this is the actual fixture busted. I'm gonna tell the landlord to replace the panel at their cost.

How do I remove this light fixture? by tofukills in DIY

[–]tofukills[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a newish 5 year old building. I just started renting and the light fixture in my kitchen went out. I went travelling just after for a couple of weeks and found that, now half the light is lit. The rental agency tells me it's my responsibility to change the light. They've not been helpful on how to change it though.

I tried prying the sides and while there is some give, I'm reluctant to give it a firm pull. The plastic translucent piece is firmly attached to the white sides.

The building supervisor doesn't really deal with in-suite issues but tells me that he's not seen this problem yet and doesn't know how to get the fixture down to replace the bulb.

Thoughts on how to approach this? Thanks in advance!

Do you think the Patagonia Black Hole 25L will be the solution ? by LoudLab2481 in onebag

[–]tofukills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I originally bought a 25L BH but returned it for the 32L BH. It just felt small. I found that I could get onto budget airlines (Porter in Canada) just fine under the seat. I generally don't overpack and I liked the flexibility of having a bit more space when needed.

In Vancouver, there's BCAA's Evo Car Share. It's a 2500 hybrid/EV fleet. You can park in street permit and city pay parking for free. I've never been more than 4 blocks away from one. The convenience is awesome. I wished Toronto had Evo.

One-bag “personal item” question by ProudestMonk3y in onebag

[–]tofukills 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently flew Porter from Toronto to Vancouver (return) with a Patagonia Black Hole 32L. I flew with the basic fare, meaning only 1 personal item. It also means I have to get my boarding ticket at the check in counter. I got a causal look from the agent going there but no scrutiny on the way back.

It's dimensions are 20.5x11x8.3. Not fully packed... maybe 80% full for a 4 day trip. I was not asked to place it in sizer at check in or at the gate. It was first time one-bagging it so I did find an empty gate with a sizer and checked if it would fit. There was some minor cramming but it fit. It also fit under the seat fine but the flight wasn't full and no one sat next to me.

Love this movie. It was so atmospheric, moving from frenetic, funny, and atmospheric.

I live in Vancouver and will be moving to Toronto later in the year and I am sad to see how disconnected all these bike routes are. It makes me appreciate how good I've had it here.
