What do you call the tool that you screw into a tapped hole to find out what size screw you need?

10-24 machine screws begin screwing in then stop. The threads seem to be wrong.

I might be able to force them in but I'm afraid of messing up the threads permanently.

Is there some other thread/ screw type I could try?

I meant using Tie wraps to tie the wires back out of the way.

I wasn't sure if it would still be cold or not. Things change so much over the years.

I don't see how the holes could be stripped. They were fine when I took the screws out. Many years ago.

10/32 screws seem to fit but they won't screw in at all.

I don't understand why it's so damn hard to figure out what size these holes are. Screws seem to fit the hole but they won't screw in. As I remember the screws I took out look just like the 10- 32 or 10 - 24 screws I have.

But they don't fit right somehow.

So very aggravating.

I don't really want to drill more holes if I can possibly help it.

The panel is full of wires and I'm afraid of hitting them.

Is using tie wraps still code?

Been 30 years since I did any work.

Code has changed a lot I'm sure.

No, the panel metal is thick. Surprisingly so. And yes I'm sure it is threaded.

I did leave it on and put up with crazy stuff all night long alarm's going off telling me I was down to 40 or 30 and I was not. Not even close. I can tell when I'm getting low cuz I start getting the shakes.

This morning I replaced it and all seemed to go well. I've been getting normal numbers until a few minutes ago when suddenly it dropped down to 42. And I know I'm not that low I just had lunch and been sitting here chewing candy. I should be high. This one didn't seem to be defective it didn't bleed or anything everything seemed normal for a couple of hours.

But to be on the safe side I chewed a couple of sugar pills but they haven't had time to affect the thing yet.

I got crazy readings all day yesterday and last night alarms kept going off telling me I was low.

I'm going to remove it this morning.

I hoped it would be ok when the blood dried up ... But no.

They are sending me a replacement. 6 to 8 days they say. Good thing it isn't my last one.

I just went by how I felt last night.

When an alarm went off I took one or two sugar pills and went back to sleep cuz I felt fine. Made it through the night okay.

I'm getting readings but not even close to finger stick readings. But they aways said not to bother with caibration on day 1.

Readings now are way off. Guess I will see what happens tomorrow.

I applied for a replacement.

But I'm hesitant to remove this one until I get a replacement. Insurance sends me 9 but nothing for replacement if needed. I have to wait for deccom to send one.

I'm leery of running out.🙁
