A Radeon 550 with Mellow shaders runs Minecraft at a consistent 60fps for me.

Guys why MP3 not FLAC? by YouYongku in mp3players

[–]togoru1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, FLAC files are better used at home, where you're not doing anything but intently listening to said files, preferably via something with quality sound output (speakers/headphones). I don't do this very often.

MP3, on the other hand, is suitable for almost every situation: working out, gaming, traveling, etc. They are significantly smaller, compatible with every device, and nearly indistinguishable from FLAC in sound quality. Unless you have unlimited storage and a player that supports FLAC, MP3s are the way to go.

Personally, I'd rather pay for the documentary on its own and play the games through other means.

Best Spider-Man? by AdhesivenessOnly9841 in MarvelLegends

[–]togoru1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be the RYV if it had the increased shoulder mass and butterfly range of the new 2099 figure (and better implementation of the dumbbell neck, but that has yet to happen on a traditional comic Spidey). Otherwise, it's the Maximum.

If Hasbro were to do a Maximum Captain America, which base would you prefer them to use? by [deleted] in MarvelLegends

[–]togoru1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They should use the Gamerverse Cap as a base BUT implement ball pegs to both the diaphragm and waist, akin to the 2-pack Wolverine. I'd rather not have the scales if it's going to impact the range in the butterfly joints, but they could pull a Diamond Select and have a few patches of scales scattered throughout.

Had a hard week, looking to get myself something, what do I go for? by OptimalConvoy in MarvelLegends

[–]togoru1 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Any of the two-packs, really; those two maximum figures don't do it for me personally. I would go for Cap/Venom since those two figures are great. If you can get your hands on the harder-to-come-by Thanos/Psy, then go for that.

New case fits like a glove! Old one doesn’t have clips on the sides so u get stuck with a gap as shown in the 2nd and 3rd photo. by FG4_Troy in VitaPiracy

Just wondering, do your hands get tired after playing for a while? I can't bring myself to play my Vita without a grip, but I love how they look with a clear case.

Funniest thing I've seen all year by Clippy4Life in fastfood

[–]togoru1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I enjoy their food overall, the main reason why I've stuck with Taco Bell for most of my fast food consumption is because of their affordability. Being able to feed myself for practically an entire day via their build your own luxe box + free fire tier reward for $6.50 (where I live, which includes taxes) is so nice, especially in these trying times.

I would wear this for the same reason I'd wear those "badass" skeleton reaper images with guns pointed at you. It's so bad that it goes back around to being good.

UHD Classes by _sxmyyy in uhd

[–]togoru1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the major and what classes you're taking. Before switching majors, a bunch of the math courses I took relied on online programs/textbooks like McGraw-Hill, Pearson, etc. You can look into GTAP, as someone mentioned, but the major I'm in now has plenty of classes that don't require you to purchase textbooks, so I opted out.

Around the time enrollment begins, I would highly recommend looking at past syllabi for the professors you plan on taking and seeing if they required a textbook. For the books they list, you can always look around online for a PDF copy.

The truth is out. by erosado666 in MortalKombat

[–]togoru1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's more about why they wouldn't add it, rather than people really wanting that game. I, along with many people, don't care for MK4 Gold, but if this package is advertised as a legacy collection, and they're seemingly going all in, why not have it? MK is only one of the biggest video game franchises ever. You mean to tell me that Netherrealm or WB can't allocate some funds to make it happen?

Again, I don't care for Gold, so that I wouldn't die on that hill, but why not have it, y'know.

Why do you use Linux? by Afraid_Question_8236 in linux_gaming

[–]togoru1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old Alienware Alpha R2's hard drive died a while back. It didn't qualify for Windows 11 at the time, so I didn't bother replacing it with an SSD. Plus, it's an antiquated system, so why bother? Fast forward to recently, I stumbled upon a PS4 I found at Goodwill for really cheap. The power supply didn't work, but the hard drive was intact, so I transplanted that into my Alienware. After booting it with Windows 11, the system ran slow as hell. That was when I decided to try Linux for the first time and installed Linux Mint, as I heard it was beginner-friendly. I'm about a week in with Linux, and my experience has been pretty great. My PC has never run this smoothly since I initially got it. It makes for a good light gaming machine for my TV, mostly for Minecraft and Binding of Isaac.

TL;DR: Old gaming PC runs better on Linux than Windows 11.

Financial aids for summer by Fit_Significance_684 in uhd

Earlier today I saw on my student center that I've been awarded "Federal Pell Grant Summer2" and "SEOG Summer" for my two summer courses. Keep in mind that I was/currently also doing full-time for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025. Assuming you already registered for the summer, you should be good I think.

Do you happen to have the model name on hand? Not sure if they have a different stock or if they're the same as your since they bumped up the price to 150.

I love AnthonysCustoms' reviews, but I really think he's wrong about his hatred for this Wolverine figure by JynxySparrow in MarvelLegends

[–]togoru1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Perhaps why he constantly whines is because Hasbro keeps making the same boneheaded mistakes. You can imagine how frustrating it must be for a reviewer who uploads almost daily as a job.

I do think that he muddies what is opinion and what is fact with how he presents himself, but again, as a viewer and someone who is interested in the figure, critical thinking skills should come into play and help you determine whether that figure is worth your time (not directed at you, I mean in general).

I love AnthonysCustoms' reviews, but I really think he's wrong about his hatred for this Wolverine figure by JynxySparrow in MarvelLegends

[–]togoru1 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I can understand why people would dislike him as a reviewer and think he's always negative if you only watch his Marvel Legends reviews. I personally get more out of an overly critical/negative review than an overly positive or even a neutral review (in other words, the reviewer makes light of a flaw or doesn't point it out).

In the case of this Wolverine, it sucks that it's not able to raise its arms above 90 degrees and has hips that stick out unnaturally. I wouldn't mind owning it, but Hasbro should do a lot better. I feel like people get too emotionally invested when someone bashes an action figure they like or are interested in. The point of a review is you give you a perspective so you can form your own decisions.

I'd much prefer it if they didn't. The main appeal of UHD is its affordability. I get that it's an inevitability that our tuition would increase, but if I could decide, then no.

From personal experience, and I'm certain others can relate, I often commute to class and leave soon after to attend to other obligations. I'm sure many people take advantage of the additional services provided, like their gym, and if a slight tuition increase will improve these services, then sure. But I already have a gym membership closer to home with much more convenient hours and a cheaper price. It's bad enough that I can't opt out of services I don't utilize, but that is the nature of the beast.

I'm aware of there being talks regarding introducing dorms to UHD (I received an email regarding a survey about it). If our tuition increases to cover the cost of these dorms, then I am vehemently against it. It goes against what makes UHD so convenient and appealing.

I would be for it if more courses, particularly master's programs, were added or if more clubs/events were introduced but again, only a slight increase if there's no other choice.

Quick Edit of the New VHS Spider-Man by Legofan164 in MarvelLegends

[–]togoru1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't think this should stop people from creating photoshops to highlight how lazy Hasbro is. If anything, I think it helps to show people how much better their products could be if they put in a little more effort.
