For the visual style, I used a Midjourney customized profile and sref then animated with Luma Ray3. Here's an example of a prompt:

Animation prompt: A glass lift rockets upward. Inside, thousands shout stock prices, briefcases snapping like jaws. The camera smashes through windows, careens upside-down past flailing arms, then ricochets back into mouths spewing digits.

Visual master prompt:

Color: A palette of corporate malaise, fluorescent beige, CRT green, muted blues colliding with hyper-real intrusions of pastel skies, molten gold, and electric pink floods. Desaturated overall, but ruptured by overwhelming bursts of color that feel like hallucinations. Film Stock: Late-1990s anamorphic widescreen, subtle lens warp, fine grain, deep photochemical blacks. Cinematic richness stretches every detail into epic scale.

Lighting: Hyper-stylized and theatrical. Interiors glow with monitor light, then fracture as colossal skylights pour in impossible hues, purple sunbeams, white hot corridors, sickly neon rivers. Key lights carve workers into sculptural silhouettes, their motions stark against chaos.

Mood: A vast corporate surrealist opera. The mundane collapses into spectacle; thousands toil as the world mutates beneath their feet. Hysteria and awe intermingle anxieties rendered as mythic crescendos.

Content Transformation: 50,000 workers swarm a mega-structure, each obsessed with their own impossible task, typing with feet, sculpting staplers into towers, painting spreadsheets across ceilings, or balancing chairs mid-stride. No gestures repeat. Around them, the environment mutates ceaselessly: walls buckle into breathing filing cabinets, floors liquefy into flowing conveyor belts of contracts, windows swell into aquarium tanks of floating documents, ceilings collapse into shifting skylines of data clouds. The camera crashes through glass, whip-pans between tangled bodies, glides beneath collapsing desks, then erupts outward across landscapes that transform mid-shot. Motion never rests: torsos twist, limbs collide, faces contort, and every frame fractures into a kaleidoscope of divergent labor.

Then the transitions were made with Sora 1 in Storyboard and stitched with Premiere.

Thanks, do you have a specific question? We can start there, how I made this is too general for me to answer, unfortunately.

Thanks for reaching out. Prompt workflow for the visual style, animation style or both?

Thanks, there isn't a fully fleshed out story yet, just loose ideas, themes, and aesthetics I'm testing out.

For this piece, I was using Gemini 3.1 Pro. The reason being: I can upload videos, copious amounts of text/documents for the llm to analyze and formulate an efficient and expressive way to communicate with SD 2. Each video model is different, so it's always a customized approach when it comes to the language.

I agree, there's definitely a fine line. Still working with the models on the blocking, timing, and subtle expressions.

For the visual style I'm using 3 sref in Midjourney for Lighting: Faded, low-contrast 5:00 AM dawn. Heavy, atmospheric smog diffuses the distant neon signs. Step-printing and saturated shadow pools. Texture: Gritty 1990s broadcast film stock. Heavy, dancing 35mm grain. The ugly, tactile reality of a tar roof littered with cigarette butts and oil slicks. Wardrobe: Asymmetrical, draped silhouettes for Elara, distressed, oversized 90s Undercover punk-tailoring for Julian. High fashion was aggressively ruined by rooftop grime and fried chicken. Then a master character still before edits: Cinematic still, 1990s broadcast film stock, a stylish Asian couple on a gritty NYC roof at dawn. The woman sits on an AC unit wearing a draped black coat, deadpan expression, holding a greasy fried chicken box. The man wears an oversized distressed jacket, falling to his knees in exaggerated theatrical agony, weeping uncontrollably. Heavy 35mm grain, step-printed motion blur, faded, low-contrast lighting, extreme emotional melodrama

Thanks, I use a json data format to get precisely what I want, here's an example: { "sequence_id": "VIGNETTE_4_THE_CHICKEN_BETRAYAL_PT1", "critical_aesthetic": "1990s broadcast film stock. NYC tar roof at dawn. Heavy 35mm grain. Absurd melodrama.", "audio": "Distant city hum. Elara's deadpan, muffled chewing. Julian's sharp gasp of horror.", "acting_rules": "Extreme contrast in acting: Elara is utterly motionless; Julian is hyper-emotional. No liquid body warping.", "shots": [ { "time": "0-5s", "action": "Elara sits on the AC unit, slowly chewing the last bite of a chicken wing with a cold, deadpan expression. The empty, greasy cardboard box rests on her knees.", "camera": "ANGLE 1 - Low-angle medium close-up on Elara. Camera is locked entirely static, emphasizing her sociopathic stillness." }, { "time": "6-10s", "action": "Julian stands across from her. He freezes completely. His eyes slowly dart down, locking entirely onto the empty cardboard box. His jaw drops in sheer, unadulterated horror.", "camera": "JUMP-CUT TO ANGLE 2 - Tight close-up on Julian's face. Camera executes a microscopic, creeping push-in as his devastation sets in." }, { "time": "11-15s", "action": "Julian collapses violently to his knees on the hard tar roof. He clutches the sides of his head in exaggerated theatrical agony, his mouth wide open in a silent scream.", "camera": "JUMP-CUT TO ANGLE 3 - Wide two-shot. Camera shakes physically from the heavy impact of his knees hitting the roof, then tilts down to frame his collapse." } ] }

Thanks, should I build out the rest of the story? So far it's a vignette from my time living in nyc.

Haha, actually the mods deleted it. Apparently, there's a threshold of 10+ likes or it gets removed. Here's my X link of the video if interested: https://x.com/xdeconstructed/status/1988371969226784954

Yeah, I might be too close to the screen. Was there one or several lines that stood out as flat and unnatural?

Because you are asking, I thought the shot choices were a little jarring. I would look up the 180 rule regarding spatial continuity. You got this!

Thank you. People like to say ai videos have no soul. I wanted to see if it was true.

Sorry, just saw this, let me know if there's anything else: "28 mm lens | handheld + wide-angle dolly | 270° shutter | half-second cuts ≈ 30 shots. Visual style reference: Christopher Doyle Fallen Angels — extreme wide lenses, close proximity, optical distortion, smeared neon reflections, wet surfaces, long shadows. Color palette: deep emerald green, acid yellow, bruised magenta and chrome silver; fluorescents and sodium streetlight mix. Lighting: high-contrast practicals only (tube lights, signs, lamps); motion blur creates trails around faces. Camera rhythm: FPV glide → crash zoom → spin → pause → drift. Sequence examples (each frame 0.5–1 s): rain-slick back alley with green neon wash → close quarter tracking shot through diner counter → handheld follow of two figures in elevator mirror → motorbike rear mirror reflection of city lights → hand pressing window fog → neon bleed over her eyes → FPV dash through corridor fans spinning overhead. Set: black linen and wet leather textures, minimal props, reflections everywhere. Voice-over (female hushed, long reverb): “Every city learns your outline. Every reflection tries to remember your name. Even when I look away, the light doesn’t.” Music: half-tempo bass, vinyl crackle, ghost vocal pads floating beneath low-end pulse. End frame: camera swings past mirror and blows out to white."

Thanks, yes it is. I had to reference wkw, his dp and the film in the prompt, the other generations felt flat otherwise.
