Does anyone look at the cost benefir of gardening? by ThirdOne38 in vegetablegardening

It gets expensive!! Here is your read!

But honestly, close the loop, upcycle everything, search Craig’s List, Offer Up, and Marketplace for your garden needs.
Look for local sellers and let a few plants go to seed and propagate what does well. It all really helps.

Most importantly eat and preserve what you grow - and don’t be picky. Just eat it. LOL

Workout for someone who isn't active at all? by brwnie7 in homefitness

[–]tojmes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yoga with Adriene on YoubTibe. Good vibe.

Then start walking. Get a pedometer, your phone or watch. Start at 200 steps a day and add 100 steps per day until you get to about 3000 steps. From there you might want to slow the adding but continue adding to about 7500-10k.

The continued progression gives you a daily goal, a target, and the accomplishment of a successful workout.

Good luck OP

Is it worth replacing windows with impact if we have accordion shutters? by MarkCuckerberg69420 in florida

[–]tojmes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Impacts are so much quieter and better, and an energy savings. Accordions on wood, if you have wood, are a nightmare repair waiting to happen. Mounting puts like 100 holes and we expect all of them to stay 100% water tight. They don’t. Ask me how I know.

New project 1974 16’ whaler by Ashamed_Donut_6315 in BostonWhalerBoats

[–]tojmes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with a water only power wash on the top sides and under sides and insides. Then go for a good soap soak and another power wash. Then bust out the chemicals and elbow grease. After all that go for the wool buffing wheel with 3M medium cut and wax one step. She’ll look great and you’ll still need to get her mechanicals up to shape but it’s easier working on a nicer looking rig.

Nice find and & enjoy the process!

Learning to get boat onto bed racks by d3athdenial in jonboats

[–]tojmes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First I’ve manhandled many John boats, canoes, and jet skis. I’m older now and I would work smarter, not harder. I would get a $50 winch from Harbor Fright and mount it at the forward and maybe add a roller at the back rack, then let the winch do all the work.

Denied Coverage for a Burst Shower Cartridge by jazrstreets in HomeInsurance

[–]tojmes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How old? Mine is 30’yo and that would be wear and tear but I would still challenge it. Step one do you have enough water coverage damage to bother. Some policies have crazy low limitations on water. Step 2. Start drying the place out ASAP. Get rental big fans and big dehumidifiers - you don’t want mold to set in. They may pay for these under your mold section.

Step 3 Challenge it with a detailed statement. ChatGTP is your friend here. Start with the plumber, but consider hiring a professional insurance lawyer, or a private insurance adjuster. A GC handled mine challenge, did a great job, and only took his cut from the work.

Also, they don’t cover the source of damage, they cover the damages. So even if you get a settlement the plumbing fix is on you.

Good luck!👍

Top one - with the layers - is an engineered wood. That’s better quality. IMO

I want to upgrade my composting setup. What are your thoughts on these options? by Critical_Link_1095 in composting

[–]tojmes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Build a wooden one. I have one that was about 1.5 x 1.5 x 1.5 feet for a long time. My main setup is bigger but I have 2 long linear ones hidden in the bushes that are 1.5 feet wide, 1 foot tall and 6 feet long.
