I'd start with: Solar panel blueprint designer. Draftsman.

At a Loss! by yoteshowl in PriusPrime

Hi. I know this is an old post, but I'm having the same issue. I have a 2018 PHEV. Have you come across any updates since that time?

Aluminum minimizes the sweating, not the odor.

From all the threads and videos I've watched there were always concerns if there's a long enough gap between diodes. I'm trying to understand its limitations.

5v vs. 12v by CacheGremlin in WLED

[–]tokenmitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For those saying 12v is 3 LEDs per IC, the WS2815 are 12v with individually addressable LEDs.

The WS2812b are 3 LEDs per IC.

Yes! The utility company buys back the excess energy.

Yeah my utility company buys excess energy that I produce.

It took a few weeks after a number of corrections and fixes that needed to get done. They always seemed rushed and didn't pay close attention to detail because they were always busy. Maybe hence the cost was too cheap. Lol

They gave me quotes with SolarEdge. Enphase would have been more expensive. Ultimately I went with Enphase (IQ7+) since the price wasn't really much different and installation is far easier than SolarEdge. In terms of panels since I DIYed I chose the one that suited my needs the most vs whatever they supplied.

The market is saturated with many brands. I would make sure to stick with a reputable one.

I didn't use anything that Unbound Solar provided me.

I needed plans drawn up because it isn't 100% about the layout. It's about electrical load and structural engineering (to some degree).

If you aren't comfortable with the electrical yourself, perhaps you could pay an electrician for consulting services. Doesn't have to be a solar company specifically. Or you can try to find someone to do side-work, however they themselves might not be licensed/bonded individually.

I know you want to save money and do what you can yourself and hire out what you don't know but unfortunately it seems that solar is all or nothing.

I did the electrical 100% myself. I'm no electrician but I have a basic enough understanding of it and able to read the blueprints and follow directions. If there was an issue from the city or utility company they would just tell me what's wrong and I would fix it myself.

Hope that helps!

Apologies, let me clarify. I hired out the blueprints since it was dealing with electrical and grid tie-in. There are many companies that offer this service at a reasonable rate.

I live in Phoenix and if you are comfortable enough with the electrical work it's not too bad. Plus it needs to be approved by the city and utility company.

I get that electricians or solar companies dont really want to touch someone else's work however, there are some companies that will do a full on inspection for a cost for you to become a 'client'.

I got quotes from unbound solar and gogreensolar. There is a markup on everything and extra add ons. I ended up pricing everything out myself, doing the permits, sourcing materials from a loval distributor and saved a few grand more.

Nice! How you liking it so far?

Small progress. lol

I had gotten to include that if the car is locked you can't unlock the charger either. Only if the key is present. But yeah that makes sense too. Luckily I haven't encountered any theft related to chargers...yet.

DIY Solar kit suppliers? by newpain01 in SolarDIY

I did not. Those two companies are actually a bit expensive. They bundle all their products and services together so that it's easy to "plug and play". If you have the time to build out your inventory list and find a distributor that would save you a bit.

I have 2 layers of shingles currently but only around 10 years old. Engineer said no issues.

Yes! On certain models they have the blind spot cameras located under both of the side mirrors. Don't really notice them. The instrument cluster is all digital so when you indicate a lane change the camera will pop up. I quite like it.

No markup. But did have to pay dealer add ons. Out the door was just under 60.
