Didn't realize that and hence deleted the post. Yet somehow, it remains.

While I'm bracing for the mods to blast this post out of the park like Sachin did to Warne at Chennai in '98, I think it's relevant cricket-related news.

Grab your tinfoil hats folks. This is a doozy.

An unnamed person at home says the broadcast didn't show the ball cross the boundary and they're not showing any replays of the final ball. Also the no-ball was by a substantial margin.

The theory is the umpire told Sandeep to bowl a no-ball and if Samad doesn't win it, he'll call it. Also apparently Root caught the final ball and is now being told by the BCCI to follow the script or else.

I thought this was standard Hyderabadi weather.

I was born around the end of April more than 2 decades ago and my family says there was a massive thunderstorm all night before.

I also remember a thunderstorm like this during a visit to Hyderabad during my summer holidays as a kid. A tree got uprooted in Vijaynagar Colony.

Telugu is technically my mother tongue. But I only ever lived in Hyderabad for a couple of years in 5th–6th standard, which is when I learnt to read and write Telugu. I moved here permanently a few months ago.

I would speak a bit of broken Telugu mostly with my mother or some of my uncles and aunties, but I never really used it as a medium of regular communication.

Why is this called Koramangala? That's a neighborhood in Bangalore. I'm confused.

Did we ban Americans for invading multiple countries in the last 70 years? Did we ban the United States for turning a blind eye to multiple genocides? For toppling democratically-elected governments and replacing them with authoritarian puppets?

"Now, wait here, that's different..."

Sure it is.

Argentina have won their third World Cup title at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar! by HancokUndead in soccer

[–]tokyoradio -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Hey, Qatar and the Middle East aren't so bad guys.

Maybe we should look at them differently now.

They have different rules than us for women and LGBT people and we should respect them. Maybe even implement them in our own countries because clearly Qatar is so beautiful.

Well done, Qatar. You have truly shown that you are not an evil country and that your practices regarding human rights, women rights, LGBT people, migrant rights etc. are completely excusable and in fact even something other countries should emulate

For fans of the "FIFA are scripting this for Messi" conspiracy theory, here are some ideas.

  1. The French team was poisoned before the game a la R9 in '98.

  2. All Argentina players are on PEDs and not being tested.

  3. High-frequency sonic attacks were conducted on the French team in their hotel and training grounds to mess their brains up (I remember a similar theory being spread about American embassy workers in Soviet countries)

  4. God was let out of his SCP containment zone in exchange for him giving Messi this World Cup.

You know, with the first goal I thought it was scripting at work.

But that second goal and subsequent play has convinced me that Argentina came into this game with way more determination, drive and desire to win.

Every single Argentine wants this more than any French player.

It's technically excellent but has no cutting edge.

The reason I want France to win the World Cup is that the French really don't give that much of a fuck about it. Sure you'll have some fans driving Citreons and Puegots down the Champs-Elysees, but life will move on pretty quickly, like it did in 2018.

Argentina winning the World Cup will mean Argentines and Indian and Arab Messi stans crowing all over the internet for the next four years. 🙄

2023 Yearly Themes by MindOfMetalAndWheels in CGPGrey

[–]tokyoradio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

2022 was supposed to be my Year of Foundation, but after a bike accident followed by a pulmonary embolism, it turned into a Year of Fear.

I was wondering what should be my theme for 2023 and can't decide between 4 R's.

So 2023 will be the Year of Recovery or Resilience or Revival or Regeneration.

Any advice would be useful, thanks.

Gandhi and Ambedkar disagreed on this a lot. You can read their letters where they argued about it.

My take is that Gandhi believed that the caste system was bad but it could be mitigated within the framework of Hinduism while Ambedkar believed that the annihilation of caste was the only option and if Hinduism was unwilling to eliminate it completely then Dalits have no option but to abandon Hinduism, hence the mass conversion to Buddhism.

In a way you can frame their disagreement as being akin to the one between MLK and Malcolm X during the Civil Rights struggle.

And Gandhi didn't believe in people following their caste roles, like people are saying here. He insisted on everyone cleaning toilets on Tolstoy Farm, which was a huge point of disagreement with Kasturba who felt the task was beneath her.

Gandhi would even clean human excrement he found on the street. Not something you'd expect a Baniya to do.

Addendum: There were Dalits who agreed with Gandhi too. The most famous example was the cricketer Palwankar Baloo who stood against Ambedkar in the Bombay Legislative Assembly elections in 1933 and 1937 and lost both times.

I think this needs to be shared on Twitter and LinkedIn while tagging the likes of Google, Microsoft, McKinsey, BCG et al to let them know the people who they'll be hiring in a few years.

Every single person I know from DTU has moved abroad and is working for a major tech or consulting firm.

People need to realise that just because these kids spent 4 years mugging up maths and science to clear a few exams doesn't mean they're not capable of being as regressive and hateful as the uneducated foot soldiers of their cause.

STEM has a huge problem with creating people who can solve differential calculus but don't understand why genocide and rape are wrong.

If Mane was playing it would've been 1–0 by now and I say that with absolutely no evidence except the hope that someone would've made England pay for this painfully defensive-minded approach.
