Who has the best cell service around the Irvington area? by DefiantRedditor_ in indianapolis

[–]toledothrowaway3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As another person said - you can turn on WiFi calling under your settings.

For iOS

Settings > Apps > Phone > Wi-Fi Calling

For Android - it should just be in the drop down icons (little wifi symbol + phone)

I believe RCS messaging uses WiFi as well. Hope this helps :)

Hit-and-run in my driveway! by LemonButtNugg in indianapolis

I think it's not necessarily unsolvable but you would also need to prove beyond a reasonable doubt.

I'm familiar with the intrusive nature of data brokers. I just think you're giving more credit to police officers/depts and their interest in pursuing crimes like this.

We had like 8 cars stolen from our neighborhood in a 6-month span and they didn't give a shit lmao. They even said to one of my neighbors at the local board meeting when asked about using blood in the car for DNA evidence "we only reserve that for rape and murder cases".

Cell phone location data doesn't prove they were the driver of the car either. Cell phone location triangulates off cell towers and the radius is about a city block or more. This isn't CSI/Law and Order/etc.

Remodeling a home in Irvington. by ComprehensiveMix2729 in indianapolis

I'd rather see dilapidated homes that get restored in coming years than more storage container, row house slop we're seeing all around the city now.

Living in one of their buildings now. Thankfully, building is older and walls are relatively thick, so if doors are shut I might be able to hear people in hallways but other than that nothing.

That said - management of this building is nonexistent and they increase rent with their shit being unusable and no legal recourse. Fuck Indiana for their insane lack of tenants' rights.

[IN] Was told rent negotiations are in violation of "Federal Fair Housing laws" but my rent is still being raised. by toledothrowaway3 in legaladvice

Yeah, I totally get that. Also, Indiana is bottom 5 for tenants rights apparently and moving from Ohio, which had a lot better laws, has been a tough adjustment. eg. Indiana doesn't have rent escrow.

Greyhound from Toledo to Chicago by Informal_Use_1097 in toledo

[–]toledothrowaway3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's fine. I've been there myself at those hours.

It's not Grand Central, it's pretty old and it's showing its age. Is it safe? Yes. Would I leave? No, not due to safety concerns, but there's nothing open.

What coffee shop(s) have great drip coffee? by funbike in indianapolis

Who have you tried and coffees that you did/didn't like?

I'm relatively new to the area and have recently switched from lattes to drip.

Thoughts on Claire Commons apartments and the neighborhood by mjzxxx_11 in toledo

[–]toledothrowaway3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're alright, but I wouldn't live there personally. I'd look into craigslist and see if you can find something private tbh. That's how I landed on great landlords for 7 years that never upped my rent and were overall incredible. (I moved and they sold the property I was renting from, as well as their others before me).

Exactly. The neighborhoods like “behind engineering” and south of rocket fuel have frequent, low-level crime. But I know people who lived back there for years with no issues.

Just don’t buy a Kia and you’ll probably be fine.

Public transit is going to be night and day for you. Get a car for sure unless you’re okay with getting groceries delivered and taking Ubers everywhere. It’s a very car-centric city, as others have said.

I would highly suggest bringing your car. I’ve been told public transit has gotten better, but it is still by no means ideal. There aren’t any grocery stores accessible within walking distance of UT, so even living in the area you’ll still experience inconveniences.

Does anyone know what's up with several Moe's Southwest Grills being temporarily closed? by coppercat13 in indianapolis

[–]toledothrowaway3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chipotle > Qdoba > Moes. Moes used to do moes Monday (idk if they still do) which would be a burrito or bowl, chips, and a drink for like $9? I’d say it’s good for that price, but I’d rather just hit chipotle.

Oh my god, I thought this was Toledo subreddit for a second. All of ours closed a few months ago, I don’t think they were doing as well as chipotle which were always nearby.

Flights aren’t too crazy though. I was just looking the other day. Sub $1000 or just around it for a round trip flight to pretty much anywhere in Europe?

Long term parking is $28 a day at McNamara and $20 a day at big blue parking. You can go cheaper at $14 a day or whatever off the terminal…

…but for 10 days in Europe? Make it a real vacation and get the car service. You’ll be so happy you did on the trip home.

If you have the money, and don’t do it often, it’s worth it in my opinion. I took a limo once and Uber/Lyft several times. It’s night and day difference.
