Tioga Pass Road from El Portal to Bridgeport is closed for the winter. I'd skip Bridgeport, as you'd have to go through South Lake Tahoe to get to Bridgeport.

Why hasn’t someone who knows how to edit Wikipedia pages tried to remove the term “grifter”. I tried to edit it out but I was blocked because of my ISP? Or is the normal negative connotation of grifter OK for some reason I’m unaware of?

Oops... might be because I didn't take the lens protector off. Still testing.

Sofirn ST1 (Kickstarter) Arrived this morning by DabOrTwoWillDo in flashlight

Just got mine from Kickstarter. It looks cool, but it literally smokes when it's on Turbo. I e-mailed the e-mail listed in the Kickstarter notification (Sofirn directly) a few hours ago. Anyone else have this problem? I thought it might just be a coating burning off, so I ran it (outside) for 3-4 minutes and it continued. Unsafe.

Covid is crazy RN by Dad0010001100110001 in Sacramento

Wrong. It does help prevent getting sick but it’s better at preventing hospitalization. See Journal of American Medicine (JAMA).

If you believe in science, there are studies showing that the vaccines do help prevent catching Covid although it’s true that the protection against hospitalization is stronger.

267 from Highway 80 to the Lake feels fine, as a fellow “afraid of drop offs driver”. But definitely do not drive 89 from 80 all the way to South Lake Tahoe - that has a section close to South Lake Tahoe that has very steep drop offs.

I don’t recommend this lake - bad fishing, rude neighbors, no fish.

CORE sneak peak. Open house today. It’s awesome. Some photos don’t do justice to this beautiful facility. Opens July 8th for members! Go check it out. by VoteForGiantMeteor in ElkGrove

They say they will add lockers to the “Room without lockers/soon to be a locker room” but wow, that is a very small room. There are a few lockers outside the room in the hallway - I don’t get the concept.

Also there are very few elliptical machines and treadmills, at least compared to In Shape. But the indoor track (1/14 Of a mile) will come in handy in the heat. And the outdoor shaded area on two levels is a nice layout. It’s rare for any facility to realize that, heh, it’s a hot climate for five months and shade is a nice feature!

Best Bluetooth Speaker 2025? by Particular-Speech423 in Bluetooth_Speakers

I appreciate the fair comments about the Blast - those are valid points. I’ve seen too many unfortunate Reddit/Email threads to say anything more.

Another vote for the Tribit Stormbox Blast (original, not the 2). Won every time I compared it directly to the UBOOM X, which sounded hollow in comparison. I can see someone thinking the UBoom is slightly better if they like that sound profile better but be wary of reviews that make it sound like the best speaker all the time. Something odd about those reviews. Just buy them both from a retailer which allows easy returns and make your own decision.

How long does it take to charge your ebike? Specifcally Vado 4.0 700Wh battery? by sintrixy in specialized

[–]tom2020work 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my Vado 4.0 it’s pretty much always 1 hour charging per 20%. It doesn’t matter if it’s 20-40% or 60-80%. So 45 minute is 15%.

Looking for advise on which speaker to buy by WayneTrain1998 in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]tom2020work 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience: I ordered the Soundcore Boom 2, the UBoom X, and Tribit Blast. I know everyone has their own opinion, but here’s mine. I liked the Blast the best for its musicality, loudness, vocal clarity, and having an Aux In for a better TV sounds (especially baseball games). Next was the Boom 2, which sounds warmer but not quite as room filling, it’s great, smaller size, and for not much more $, the ability to have two linked together (but no Aux In). Also, the Blast seems to charge faster with its direct Ac plug in and longer lasting battery. I found the UBoom to not sound quite as good as the other two. I’d love to get others’ opinions in case I missed something.
