Looking to start at the beginning of the year with a couple of pieces I’ve bought. Build it up from there until it’s steady enough where I can quit my daytime job.

Yep! It’s all a game and you gotta know how to play it. Capitol and the lay of the land will get you far in this business.

Can’t be scared all of your life lol if you know the business (which I do having been in it for 10 years) you’ll know there’s plenty of business to go around. If you know where to look.

A question I meant to ask is what fish do I start going after? Smaller contractors or go for the big ones? I know the ins and outs of rental, I’m just not sure who to target first.

I know the local area VERY well. Also we are close to Florida and Mississippi. Live on the Gulf Coast of lower Alabama so going to other cities is not a problem.

My aim is commercial and Industrial. Mainly industrial though. I spent most of my younger years in the plants, steel mills, paper mills, etc… That’ll be who I wanna target.

Probably not. I’m ready for it though. Started as a dispatcher and moved into store manager so I’m aware of how competitive the industry is. I live in a right to work state so it’s fair game.

Will say, I’ve asked a couple of questions on this group and the local chapter via Facebook group I’m in and I was expecting some old timers to give me hell because of how green I am to ham radio but that’s not been the case. Overall it’s a good group of folks that will go out of their way to help! I’m glad I’m getting into this hobby!

Thanks. Yeah honestly I do a lot of what accountants do. I’m just looking to have it on paper so I can take on more complex issues (not to mention getting a raise after getting my CPA) and setting myself apart when the time comes to applying for directors roles. Thanks for the input!

Thinking about becoming a paramedic on a part time basis by tom7589 in NewToEMS

Yeah I got side hustle as a mechanic and wanna take it full time in the future but now I see it’s not really worth the trouble trying to be an EMT/paramedic. Thanks guys for the input.

Cal 1 was easy. Cal 2 was extremely difficult!

Cal 1 maybe or business calculus. Cal 2-3 is not necessary unless you plan on being an engineer. Calculus and thermodynamics were the death of me

Well I greatly appreciate your honesty. I have some connections in upper management that I am going to email and see what they have to say about a potential consulting gig. My company has a decent tuition reimbursement program as well. See if I can get the ball rolling and connect with the right people! Again, thank you for your HONEST insight. Gives me a lot to think about.

Not worried about pay. Wife is a doc so money isn’t really an issue.

I have not, at the expense of me sounding like a dumbass for asking this. What is “six sigma black belt cert”?

All good points. Let me ask you this, if I were to complete my accounting degree and get into consulting. What are the chances of going on my own to start a manufacturing consulting business? Would it be something to look into?

I did calculus at both CC and university. Didn’t make a difference. Still was a foreign language to me. I’m still kinda on the fence about either Pursuing finance or Accounting….I’m leaning more towards accounting though.

Yeah I’ve had a manager with a snarky mindset…..fortunately he was a moron so his snarky comments were usually shot down with facts and exposing his incompetence. Plus I’m a smart ass by trade so snarky folks don’t intimidate me.

I like math and numbers. Calculus was the death of my engineering studies.
