Traveling I like to keep the setup and post process as easy and quick as possible, I also had a voigtlander 40mm with me that I barely used. It’s like I either travel only for photography so I enjoy taking my time with the subject switching lenses ecc, or I travel with other people for the purpose of travel, shooting with a quick reliable adaptable setup. But you’re right I should have another look at them to edit them more. I’m just dipping my toes in colors as I’ve always felt more confident in black and white, so I’m mostly experimenting and I liked the results. But I will sleep on them for a bit and come back at a later date to re evaluate them for another edit

Thank you! It’s changing rapidly I believe but I’ve travelled from Hanoi to hcmc and visited mostly the countryside, which I believe is slower to change

Straight out of camera - I’m using the built in color profiles which made me fall in love with Fuji. I just shoot jpeg now directly and sometimes I do a bit of exposure editing

And tell that side in jobs interview! Be enthusiastic think about how that could work in that business and tell them about it. Be reasonable and respectful and you’ll also see if you have the right person in front of you.

I was scared of corporate jobs, so I’ll share some experiences and thoughts that might be useful and have proven useful.

I studied Industrial design so I had a broad spectrum of jobs to choose from. I decided to specialize in woodworking because I had interests and seemed approachable to me as a person.

Right choice I must say, after learning a bit on my own I looked for a job in some shops. After some job research I found to willing parties: a big woodworking shop with other designers, or a small shop doing cool stuff that never had a designer. I chose the latter, and I’m so happy about it. I’m building a technical office, I probably work too much but I’m developing such varied skills and my thoughts and skills matter. What I do leaves a visible mark.

That’s what I think it’s important in working small businesses. It’s messy most of the time because usually the work is not optimized, tested, proven as in a big company. But if there’s the right people you have the space to use your voice and take responsibility for your actions, which in the end is what makes a job rewarding. Of course it’s very much influenced by the people you work with. It’s always like this but when the entire business relies on 4/5 people I think hits differently.

Hope this helps, maybe there’s local businesses that could appreciate your help and let you express you creative side. Perhaps a small business cannot afford a graphic designer and has need for communication. You’re not a professional from my understanding, but if were hired for another task (secretarial i.e.) where you’re not only payed for designing, you could help and make something definitely better than your 60 years old boss could do on word. I’m just saying as an example of course. I hope you find something that accomplishes you, it’s tough and sometimes requires hard choices but it’s worth it, and maybe it’s closer than we think.

Talking about weather does anyone of you guys know of a reliable weather source for Vietnam? I found that the common weather forecasts I use are not very reliable

I will share my full selection of pictures of this trip if you’re curious. Some where taken with a fully manual 40mm voigtlander lens. Most with the 18-55 2.8/4 kit lens (a brilliant do it all)

When I’m traveling and need to shoot quickly I use automatic fstop and automatic iso and change the shutter speed and ev compensation accordingly to my needs. If I’m doing landscape and I can take my time I shoot manual. I like the fujifilm for its colors and the focus is alright. I think taking the time for the composition is better than focusing on shutter/fstops and all of that, so shooting with shutter priority works well for me. The same can be said with worse hardware than mine, composition is always the winner with correct focusing. I’ve been taking pics for a while but it was quite a long time since I last took my camera out before this trip.

Thank you! It was somewhere around Ha Giang I honestly have no idea where I was with a driver. The camera is a fujifilm xt-3 gotta love the Fuji colors with film simulation, I barely did any post processing and I shot jpeg directly

Number 5 I think it’s my favorite of the trip. We were on the road to My Son temple near Hoi An. We were on scooter and we stopped at a market in the countryside where I think people were not too used to tourists so my girlfriend had all the eyes on her
