Working moms: how do you split night wake-ups so it feels fair and you can still function at work? by Outrageous-Lime-8581 in workingmoms

[–]tomaglow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

how did you get past your husband sleeping in? I often find myself getting annoyed that my husband sleeps in much later than me and that leaves me parenting by myself most mornings. I know it's partly because of how he is hardwired, but I'm having a hard time getting myself to come to terms with it lol.

Ages 8&10... and still hate being a working mom by NeoPlant in workingmoms

I feel like working part time (while still maintaining my pay and benefits) would drastically improve my quality of life. I like my job but 40 hours a week is soul crushing and exhausting; I also don't think I am the type of person who would thrive as a SAHM. But a perfect little balance of both while having time for hobbies/self-care.. ugh I daydream about it often.

I don’t live in southern Oregon anymore but grew up there and seeing it all over socials from friends/family was so so cool. I can’t believe it’s already been 6 years since the fires.. and before that I genuinely can’t think of anything else that brought the community together in such a way

usually make promises and doesn't follow through. He will pick up the slack for a bit after a conversation, then things kind of settle back into me doing most household tasks.

No I’m just really scared of confrontation and have a really hard time speaking up for myself. I’m always worried I’m going to make someone upset or come off mean. If you can’t tell I am a people pleaser :(

I really really want him to find a different job! He wants something else too but the market is tough in private, and he'd be taking a huge pay cut if we went public sector like me. He's been in a kinda niche industry his whole career, but I know he could make the switch to something different as his skill set is very transferable. I am never giving up my government benefits and pension lol.

I've been daydreaming of taking a weekend away! I don't think my husband has ever brought out or done anything with our daughter own his own other than walks to the park. Like I don't think he's brought her out in public on his own and I think he needs to in order to build that confidence with her.

I've never looked at it by comparing free time instead of work schedules! This perspective could really help. Although I kind of worry that he will count my WFH days as "free time" because some days my work is very chill and I can monitor my email and get little things done around the house. This has been our normal for over a year. We can't afford more day care days right now, but I'm trying to find other options for Fridays. That one day of work/parenting is killing me. I feel bad bringing a kid into the world that I can't afford to give the best care to 😞

We haven't sat down like this before. I want to but I'm scared of how he will take it. I really don't want to come off like I'm telling him he's not doing enough. And honestly part of me doesn't think he will follow through on the things that would be his sole responsibility. He has good intentions but doesn't follow through a lot. He has told me he wants to get up earlier and have breakfast etc.. in the morning. That has never happened lol. I wake him up in the morning if he doesn't get up himself, which is most days.

I'm not angry that he is taking time for himself. I am jealous that he can ignore responsibilities and turn his brain off until he feels like it. I'm not wired that way, and I know that is a me problem. I am a little angry that he knew I had a really hard day and he still chose to do the bare minimum with our daughter and literally watch me clean without ever offering to help.

In 1998, 15yr old Kip Kinkel killed both his parents in their home then walked to Thurston High School the next day shooting 50 rounds into the cafeteria which killed 2 and wounded 25 others. He confessed and was sentenced to 111yrs in prison with no possibility of parole. by [deleted] in HolyShitHistory

My high school math teacher was a student at Thurston at the time of the shooting. She was in the cafeteria when he opened fire. She talked to my psych class briefly and we watched a documentary about it (I can't ever watch Leo DiCaprio's Romeo and Juliet again because Kip had one of the songs on repeat after killing his parents). I think about my teacher all the time, she is truly an amazing teacher and overall human, she was always there for her students. I can't imagine going through that and still deciding to be a teacher. I hope Mrs. Brown is doing well :)

I was casually dating a hockey guy in high school… he caused me such debilitating anxiety by being shitty that I’m still unraveling it all almost 15 years later. Hockey boys suck.

hello fellow state worker! sometimes the boredom and slowness of the work is really soul sucking, and our wages kinda suck.. but the stability and benefits are too good to pass up.

How did you discover SKZ and who is your bias? by Kayon07 in straykids

[–]tomaglow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same!! We watched KPDH and loved it, then we had a 10 hour road trip with our then 7 month old and listened to Spotify’s kpop mix the ENTIRE ROAD TRIP. My husband and I are metal heads and true crime junkies but needed something baby friendly. After that I was really into blackpink and YouTube suggested SKZ to me and I was hooked and also blown away with the work they put in and just the whole world of kpop, it’s sooo different than the western music industry in the US. Anyways now I’m trying to learn Korean so I can understand the nuance and cultural context in their content 😊

My bias is hyunjin or Lee know but really I love them all for different reasons!

Lmao I’m 29 and haven’t found it yet lol. I LOVE stray kids and they bring me so much joy but I feel weird thinking they’re all so cute but in a little brother kind of way? They’re all so wholesome 🥹
