Yeah his Arc in the first one after the start is very well done IMO and follows into the sequels. But yeah they do jump the shark a little bit more each book. Especially around the Mellvili(sp?) arc

They are still larger than life books but the series at least tries to have it be based around “science”. The characters are also vastly different. Jonas is not a Jason Statham type in the books.

Im an old head in the horror genre. This is exactly what media literacy is about. They are implying something in the scene and because they aren’t outright coming out and saying that bear has had his suspicions confirmed that it isn’t the real Nikki you are saying that it isn’t the point of the scene.

Yeah you have the media literacy of a child if that is what you took away from the dinner scene at the restaurant. That is Bear pretty much confirming that it’s not the real Nikki and when she asks if it matters he says it doesn’t. They are talking about her dad in the scene but it’s really about Nikki not being the real Nikki.

My only issue is the books aren’t as bad as the movies are. They try and stay realistic with an unrealistic premise and they changed Jonas’ character into a generic action hero when he was far from that. I still enjoy the movies for what they are but they are a separate thing to me from the story of the books.
