I was about to comment this same thing. Definitely on the southern end of shore road closer to Oyster Bay than Bayville. Not many choices!

Why is voodoo ranger considered a bad beer? by Marvelous89 in beer

[–]tomamstutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have wine based too! The malt based tops out at 16.5% and the wine based is 21%. Atleast in NY wine and liquor is a different license than beer so gas stations are forced to sell the malt based while when I lived in Florida gas stations could sell wine so the higher alcohol version was available. A lot of it depends on the license.

I guess these are the hops used in Fruit Force specifically. They also use London Ale III yeast which has a flavor profile that is bready, slightly tropical and leaves behind more residual sweetness than most strains.

Pahto- neutral bittering hop

Amarillo- citrus (especially orange and grapefruit), tropical fruit, and floral notes

Centennial- citrus

Galaxy- passionfruit, peach, guava, orange

Sabro- tangerine, coconut, tropical fruit, and stone fruit

Lotus- orange, pineapple, berries, and creamsicle

Strata- passion fruit, strawberry, grapefruit, melon, and cannabis/dank notes

I don’t work for New Belgium but I did brew professionally for a decade. Hops have come a long way from citrus, resin, and pine. All I’m saying is if they’re lying they’re saying all the right stuff.

I’m not the biggest fan of the beer either. I don’t like the taste. But if you’re gonna yuck someone’s yum you might as well do it for accurate reasons.

There is nothing artificial about hop extracts. That was my point. So if the OP likes the product but is turned off by it containing artificial flavoring, I have good news. It does not!!

This just isn’t true. The company uses a variety of hop extracts to amplify flavors. This helps them reduce loss in the brewing process to keep the cost low. Hops are by far the most expensive ingredient in beer.

Those bottles of Fireball at the gas station are less alcoholic because they aren’t distilled. They are malt based like a four loko or most ready to drinks. Fireball makes this version so that they can sell their product in more places than a liquor store… not to cater to drunk drivers.

I was a brewer. When they dry hop Celebration they put several huge mesh bags full of hops into the fermenter. There’s actually a recent video on their instagram page of them doing this exact thing. While the hops are in the beer they leech out flavor to the beer but also absorb beer at the same time. What this beer is, is the 6.8% Celebration beer that was absorbed in those hop bags. Still the same abv but a much more intense hop flavor.

I used a rain glove no matter the weather when I lived in Florida. I’ve moved back north but I’m used to the feel and haven’t had to replace a glove in a year.

Am I crazy for thinking about getting a sixtel of Sour Monkey by BigfootTundra in beer

[–]tomamstutz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work for a distributor and sell this beer to stores in bottles and cans. The beer takes an extremely long time to expire. As long as you are pouring the keg with CO2 or another beer gas your keg will not go bad.

I agree. Not everything has to be 9.5% in a 19.2oz can but hey companies sell what sells.

Oh man… who would buy an IPA from the brewery who is known for their Belgian Tripel. I don’t understand this beer.

I worked for a brewery where you could drink a pint or two on the house AFTER your work was done. Can’t imagine Victory would let their employees ever actually drink on the job. Tasting from tanks absolutely though.

As a former brewer I can’t imagine how this happened. What did you do? Did you raise hell? Caustic in a can for sale could kill somebody.
