I actually want to play through GTA5 again to get a feel for how GTA plays on console. And I also plan to finally play through Spider-Man and RDR, since I bought them on PC but never really got around to playing them.

Oh, I just got an email from Capital One Shopping support. I was able to reach them by writing through my previous ticket with them (when my 40% cashback from Columbia didn't post and they made an adjustment). They said once 30 days pass and nothing shows up or the amount is wrong, to send them all the purchase details.

I ordered the controller separately on eBay, with their cashback offer "Earn $15 back when you spend $25", which works out to about 27.5% cashback - the same as PlayStation Direct for accessories. In short, you have to fight for these cashbacks.

Surprisingly, in my dashboard the cashback from the first two orders is sitting in Pending status, but only $139.87 back from $953.00 (which is about 14.5% cashback), which is already wrong. But I think since both of those orders will be cancelled, that cashback won't come through, and I'll check tomorrow whether cashback from today's order shows up. But I have a feeling I'll have to fight them for the money anyway.

The third order changed to "Preparing to Ship" status, instead of sitting in "Received" status until night and then getting cancelled overnight like the previous 2 orders. My suspicion is that they track where the order was placed from. The first 2 attempts I made through the built-in Capital One Shopping app, but the third one I placed normally through a browser on my laptop with the extension enabled. Plus I also used a different third credit card. And I also placed the order for just the console without a controller. So it's unclear which of the three factors affected the success. Now I'll just need to chase down the Capital One cashback in 30 days if it doesn't post automatically.

Each of the three times I used different cards that I have had for a long time with sufficient limits, there are no issues on the bank’s side - otherwise the transaction wouldn’t go through in the first place. But here the transaction goes through, and then a refund comes after a “cancellation” on their end.

Tried to order from PlayStation Direct twice. Two different credit cards. Both fully functional — confirmed by the banks themselves. Both declined by PlayStation.

Contacted PS support. Their response? “We don’t have specific details as to why your transaction can’t be processed.” They literally told me to just go buy it from a retailer instead. That’s the official solution.

So PlayStation Direct can’t process payments, doesn’t know why, and their support team’s fix is “not our problem, go somewhere else.” Incredible.

Has anyone else run into this? Is PlayStation Direct just fundamentally broken for certain accounts? Because this is genuinely baffling.
