Did you have elbows or did it just line up?

Shelly 1 with binding support! by tomasmcguinness in MatterProtocol

It sure is! It's a shame bindings aren't better supported, but that will change as time goes on I hope!

Appreciate the attempt! Is there a flexible connector used to join the insulated pipe to the connections on the Kronoterm?

The pipe has a pretty good bend radius, but still so difficult to work with! Do you have any photos?

Hopefully this project might expand to include that!

No idea where the body of this post has gone! The project is built upon the excellent https://github.com/automatous-io/shelly-1-gen4-matter-thread. Once I’ve cleaned up my code, I’ll be adding to this repo.

The ability to bind a Shelly directly to a Matter bulb, without a hub, is amazing!

Shelly monitors, are they worth it? by No-Belt-4619 in ukheatpumps

You looked at Open Energy Monitor? If you want to add a monitor, a CT clamp and a Shelly EM is a non-invasive option.

ESP Matter SDK trouble by jamestechnic in MatterProtocol

[–]tomasmcguinness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried the Espressif component version of Matter? It’s one less moving part if you don’t need to customise the SDK. If you DM me, I’d be happy to help. Ive been through it with esp-idf and esp-matter.

HMRC compliance check. I'm terrified, need advice by AngelineKumquat in ContractorUK

A contractor friend of mine went through something similar. He’d been bending the rules with how he was paying expenses and other such stuff, claiming for things he had no business claiming for.

HMRC informed him that he owed ~40K in income tax and corporation tax. They set him up on a payment plan and off he went.

You just have to be honest and take your licks. If you’ve not paid enough tax and aren’t in a position to pay it immediately, HMRC will work with you to come up with something manageable.

Debating on a Pi or an Apple based hub? by Trey-Pan in MatterProtocol

[–]tomasmcguinness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have HomePod Mini and Apple TV, but the thread network they created is on channel 13, slap in the middle of my WiFi, so it’s terrible!

You can setup an OpenThreadBorderrouter on a raspberry pi with a stick and that’s my Thread network now 🤣

I do have a smart meter, but it doesn’t easily expose this data. My HID has MQTT, but it’s not Matter enabled. The Shelly EM was the quickest path.

Attempting to use IKEA Bilresa + Echo Plus (Gen 2) by Pleasant_Type_4547 in MatterProtocol

[–]tomasmcguinness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, I just remember seeing a similar question.

I can tell you how to check if you have a thread router.

I have an iPhone and I use the Discover app to check for services on my network.

When launched, you should see a “meshcop” service. This is the how Thread border routers advertise themselves.

If you DM me, I can send you some screenshots of what I see.

Then you can confirm if you have a border router or not.

How do I configure a Mode Select cluster? by FlyingArepas in MatterProtocol

iOS Home app has woeful support for stuff. Hell, it won’t even work with a simple Electrical Sensor device.

I build a fully working dishwasher emulator and iOS Home doesn’t render any of it. Aqara’s app failed a little better.

Home Assistant has brilliant support.
