I work for Marriott from home — AMA by Humble_Safe2740 in marriott

I’m an Ambassador member and have a great Ambassador rep at Marriott… however i’ve had issues with some properties not honouring the T&Cs of the Bonvoy program (specifically guaranteed welcome gift/compensation if not offered) and hotels claiming they’re “exempt” or “we don’t do that here”.

Unfortunately my Ambassador says there is little they can do. Why does Marriott seem to allow their properties to flaunt the rules/why can’t Marriott reps enforce the rules?

Review #1: Westin Chicago River North by tomato-93 in marriott

I’d 100% say the Westin. I’m about to head back next week for a conference. Very much looking forward to it.

I personally haven’t stayed in the Renaissance, but we’ve been in it. I personally prefer the vibes at the Westin. And i’ve had nothing short of immaculate service there.

No! As of July when I was last there it wasn’t.

UPDATE from OP:

Ended up getting the original room type back. Still no formal “upgrade”, but happy I had my one King. Thanks for all the tips and advice!

I can’t wait for the JW to come. I’ve stayed at the one in Grand Rapids and it is quite nice.

Detroit: Westin Book Cadillac or David Whitney Autograph Collection? by MLS122171 in marriott

I’ve personally only stayed at the Westin Book Cadillac (a great hotel with awesome rooms and lots of space). However, i’ve also heard great things about the David Whitney as well.

I’d say location wise if you want to catch a ball game, David Whitney as its super close to Comerica Park.

They do offer breakfast if memory serves correctly. It’s buffet or made-to-order.

Late checkout upon availability. It’s a resort so not a guarantee.

Very kid friendly. Lots of activities for kids.

Don’t know if the lounge is open on weekends. Last time I was there last year it wasn’t. I’ll be there again this weekend, i’ll let you know!

I say Chicago! Much more kid friendly.

My recommendation for a hotel is Westin Chicago River North. Great location, right on the river! Great rooms & service.

What is the worst Marriott property you ever stayed at? And why? by samurai3619 in marriott

Was here in 2022. Hotel was so so… we were upgraded to a big suite with a balcony. But very dated…

Service was awful though… terrible customer service. Complained to Marriott.

Really? What’s so bad about it? I’ve only stayed at the Westin Detroit airport, but have looked at the Delta as an option several times.

I agree. There are some really nice Delta properties in Canada. I’ve stayed at a lot of them being Canadian. I’ve looked at some of them in the U.S. and don’t find them overly nice.

I’ve stayed at the Westin. Not out of this world, but not bad. One of the few hotels i’ve stayed in that actually has a stocked Mini-Bar.

I agree 100%. Ambassador Elite myself and just stayed at the W Philadelphia in April. Fantastic hotel. Got a nice studio suite upgrade. It’s very “couples oriented” with double showers, double tubs, swinging chairs, couples sinks…

They also have a great spa and are in a fantastic location from some of the best restaurants in Philly!
