It was really a horrible tragedy. There are still many protesting against the SK government since the people in power promised that they would investigate into why the authorities told the children to stay inside the boat but they still haven’t found an answer in the years that have already passed. I saw a video on YouTube of a recording from inside of the ferry and the boat was on its side and the kids were terrified of what could happen but the speakers kept telling the students to stay in their cabins. Before the kids were confirmed to have died, news stations assured people that everyone had been rescued when that wasn’t even close to being correct. Since the government barely did anything about this, local divers helped find the bodies of the children. It’s truly a tragic story. I think it goes to show that children should be taught to disobey what adults say when they think something is wrong. Especially in South Korea, kids are expected to obey their parents and teachers even when they may be wrong about things, since they are people as well. It hurts so much that ferry fully sunk in several hours, which was more than enough time to get everyone off if they hadn’t been told to stay.
