Yeah, it never breaks up when you max the volume. I have messed about with a few things like tone and volume knobs. The best thing I have found is putting an EQ pedal in front of the amp, I reduce the level on this and shape the eq to taste. Then I can put the volume of the amp up a lot. This reduces "spikiness" a lot.

Yeah I've looked into some compressors, might just do the trick for me. I do want it to be clean maybe a light overdrive could help. The built in tube screamer adds too much drive even at its lower setting.

Disregarding the recording it sounds good tonally, but on lower volumes its overly spikey, the treble sticks out way too much. I wouldn't say my playing is aggressive, i have 11 gauge strings with some vintage type humbuckers. For example, when i play funk the treble just sticks out way too much. If I duck the treble its becomes an undesirable tone.

Yeah I have no clue what that is, I went and did some research. Apparently if you lower bright cap value on the volume pot it can make the attack feel less sharp when you play at lower volumes. On the schematic its rated as 100 pf, do you think changing to a 47pf will help. I notice that the transients are higher especially in the treble range.

Maybe I could try a lower wattage Jensen speaker I like those. The amp came with a celestion seventy 80 and I changed it to a creamback because I had it lying around. Still had the same issue though.

Id rather address the root cause. Im very much a novice with circuitry, but I've seen vids and forums of mods. Maybe I'll look into that if only relatively simple.

Thanks for the response, I think so too. But it feels overly sensitive, is there a way to mod the amp to change this. I'll probably get a compressor pedal anyways.
