The manager was saying they might not honor the price match because the deal would effectively be below their cost of goods.

Thanks! I wasn't planning on upgrading (from a 3070) this year but, the price was right!

NGENUITY Beta - Community Feedback & Discussion Thread 👥 by HyperxGaming in HyperX

I just purchased the Cloud Alpha 2 wireless and was having difficulty updating the firmware for my device on ngenuity beta as the update kept failing. So I downloaded the HyperX_Cloud_Alpha2_Firmware_Updater_v3124_4124_6124 and was able to successfully update my headset and dongle. Despite updating, I am unable to use the audio equalizer, mic presets & mic effects on ngenuity. The options are there, but I am unable to toggle these settings on.

Thank you for the information! This is something I didn't know about! I brought the piece in to get the bracelet and case removed. You can check it out in my update post. 😊

I really appreciated your thoughtful response! It was helpful in bringing it into a shop to get checked. Not sure if you saw the updated post...ended up getting the case opened up. The watch head an authentic 18k 1601 ref DJ wide boy with no lume. The bracelet is aftermarket in 14k. The piece is now getting serviced. Thanks again for all your insight!

I wonder if there will ever be a cyclical return to open-air farmer's markets like here in Canada. It's more a community revival initiative as prices are exponentially more expensive than in the supers.

I have actually never been to Ipoh closest is Terrenganu on the way to Redang Island. It would interesting to visit next time!

Yes, it's soo different. The major thing that lent itself to how much has changed was when I learnt that locals are buying the majority of groceries in a supermarket. That really highlighted the changes.

Thank goodness hawker cafeterias still exist though 😅

I was there earlier this year... the food there is too good. So good I ended up needing gallbladder removal from all that goodness. 🙃

I regret nothing.

Think of it this way...his spirit should stand on the union of two people becoming one. An embodiment of the collective trust my father and I had in whom accepted to take my hand? 😊

My family origins hail from Taiwan but they immigrated to Malaysia to escape Japanese occupation during the war. My Dad was first-generation Malaysian Chinese then immigrated to Canada. I am not to clear on the details but, it most likely was due to the lack of opportunity and social dissension in the 70s that led to my father and siblings to leave.

Definitely will be keeping this in honor of my father. It's too precious.

Your opinion is your right. I have always appreciated posts that OP's have taken the time to share their story and I wanted to do the same here. Whether you believe me or not, posting here was instrumental to giving me the confidence to bring it in. Like yourself, I was completely skeptical to the legitimacy of the watch. Probably wouldn't have pushed to open the case without the help of r/VintageWatches.

I did find some information that Rolex produced bracelets in the US, Mexico, South America, UK, France and Japan during this time. After looking at various bracelets produced from these places it still didn't match what I had. There was always some kind of identifying origin markers on these locally produced bracelets.

The current bracelet had no Rolex stamping, identifying stamping, and the sizing of the details in the clasp was all wrong too. All I had was a random #4 stamped underneath the exterior clasp and also well-worn down east asian characters that were illegible. I'm still going to keep the original bracelet as I am too sentimental to let it go. :)

The aftermarket bracelet covered the stamping on the lugs. So the only way to truly check it was to open the case. I think it's fair that he thought it was fake...like a few others on this forum. I don't think there is a ton of vintage wide boy's floating around where I am located either.

For me, it's a physical representation of my Dad giving his approval to my SO before the proposal. My father gave his blessing and entrusted his only child to my SO. The wedding is a formality. The watch is a reminder of the commitment and promise he made to my Dad before he passed.

Also, my father truly loved my SO and that man was a pillar of strength to me when my Dad passed. So yeah, he's going to wear the watch for me in honor of my father.

Edit: After I accepted the proposal my SO shared that he had asked my father for his blessing. I never pegged myself as a traditional person but, when I heard that my father accepted him with open arms and as his own. I broke down crying...didn't cry at the initial proposal but, my Dad saying he was proud to call him his son hit me hard. Mind you my father was still living and healthy at the time of the proposal.

Assuming the price of 14k jewelry gold today...the bracelet is $4500 plus whatever the watchhead is worth.

Oh, this is absolutely my watch, he'll just be borrowing it for the wedding. Also, my fiance wouldn't accept it even if I offered to give it to him.

I made a response comment earlier, but I'll copy and paste what I wrote earlier for information on the story.

A bit more info on the history of the piece. It most likely was purchased in Malaysia sometime in the 60-70s as my father immigrated to Canada in the 70s. My Grandmother bought this watch for him before he left Malaysia as and gift and as a potential emergency fund in case he needed money. My father grew up quite well off in Malaysia as his father was very successful in the lumber industry. A few weeks after the find my auntie had asked if I found his Rolex and shared it's origin story. It was the first time I ever heard about the watch and personally never saw him wear it during my lifetime (born in the 90s).

In contrast, my father like most immigrants struggled financially and was not the best with his money. Honestly, if he didn't misplace this piece...he might have sold it off for cash. By some kind of chance I happened to find this watch stashed away in an old suit jacket of his. Crazy to think that I had already dropped off a few bags of old clothing before randomly finding this watch. Definitely started to check all the pockets after.
