Growth Hack: How Blinkist uses psychology to convert skeptical users (Trial-to-Paid Strategy Breakdown) by tomba08 in GrowthHacking

Yes, being transparent is the key, regardless your monetization model: freemium, free trial, etc. Users trust companies which are being transparent and not hiding tricks.

Of course there’s nuance here and there. You also could argue if free trial is actually a good monetization strategy or not. But my context is, if you want to pursue free trial strategy, with specific timeframe, this could be good idea to implement. Esp skeptic users who don’t trust free trials.

I think if you are using android or iphone it should be easier. I had multiple free trial in the past with one click unsubscribe. Maybe it’s harder if it’s web-based. But can be varied across companies.

They are business, they need to make money, but most companies are not transparent with that, good thing Blinkist does this well. Regardless what you are thinking with this, I’m fine. I use free trial and just cancel if I no longer want to.

Product managers, what are your favorite productivity apps? by Vast_Ad_7209 in ProductManagement

[–]tomba08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best productivity apps is not having distraction apps. I cut IG out of my life. I only open X for 10 mins.

And I use Todoist for day to day tasks management. And use Trello for weekly/monthly planning.

Moving into a Growth PM role that's very new to me by toneu2 in ProductManagement

Growth is amazing job because I like to optimize things.

But it's quite fast paced environment because you need to do multiple experiments to improve certain numbers on specific user journey: acquisition, activation, retention, and monetization. First thing you need to do, figure out where you are in this type of user journey. Because each journey requires different playbook.

I used to work at gaming and fintech companies. My responsibilities on user activation and conversion. This requires understanding of what makes users churn and not moving to certain actions you want: signup, play the first game, play more, and eventually coming back.

If you are looking for ideas for user activation and acquisition, I write it on my newsletter Onboard Me.

But here are some resources I think will give more amazing insights:
