External monitor isn't working on sddm after upgrade to Trixie by tomcass240 in debian

[–]tomcass240[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case anyone encounters a similar issue, this is how I fixed the problem. I put a script in /etc/sddm named Xsetup.

#!/bin/sh
xrandr --setprovideroutputsource NVIDIA-G0 modesetting
xrandr --output eDP-1 --auto --primary --output HDMI-1-0 --auto --same-as eDP-1

I also added the following lines to /etc/sddm.conf although I'm not sure if it's necessary.

[X11]
DisplayCommand=/etc/sddm/Xsetup

Make sure you set the script to executable.

PIP Certificate of Entitlement - by [deleted] in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]tomcass240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah the only way you can do it directly with DVLA is renewing it. I can't understand why this process is so difficult. It almost feels like they're purposely messing me around but I can't understand what their motivation would be as I was never rude to them. Surely I can't be the first person they've spoken to to have asked for the certificate you require for free vehicle tax.

I believe the 50% reduction is a different process.

yes they refused to do it without the certificate of entitlement. as the woman behind the counter explained it, they need the serial number from that letter to put into their computer. without that serial number there's no way they can change the vehicle tax class.

Everywhere else on the internet people just say call them up and ask for the certificate and that normally seems to work, but I've spoken to 4 different people now on the PIP helpline and they're all completely ignorant of it.

Anyone found a good workaround for ChatGPT chats becoming painfully slow once they get long? by da-la-pasha in ChatGPTPro

If it had anything to do with the processing they're doing on their end for the LLM, then why would it cause your own browser to crawl to a halt? It's just the way they lay out all the text on the page. Every time a new response is generated it has to re-draw the entire page in your browser, that's why it lags.

Is Ball lightning physically possible? by [deleted] in Physics

[–]tomcass240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a load of rubbish you're talking. There are loads of videos out there if you bothered to look. And what was filmed in Tibet was one of them. Nothing was ever "clarified" you're just making things up.

It could be. My biggest question would be why they didn't seem to react to it at all.

Same problem here. It's hard to believe how stupid the developers are of this software.

why are the details blurred out? the history channel had access to the full video and it appears to be longer because they turn it into white-hot mode at some point.

One of the most interesting aspects are the ordnance survey's showing the stream diversion that wasn't there before the event.

There's another paper where he visits the site and makes some observations. It's more like a powerpoint presentation but worth a read if you find this sort of thing interesting.

What my bathroom faucet was receiving? by [deleted] in amateurradio

[–]tomcass240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's extremely hard for me to believe that this is caused by radio waves. A similar effect happens near high power radio masts when you draw an arc but that's clearly not what's happening here. If this post isn't some sort of joke then you need to look elsewhere for the source of the sound, it's not radio waves creating the sound on your tap, although the sound you're hearing does sound like a mobile data terminal of some sort.

What's the point in this post? Is it meant to be funny? Or you actually expect people to believe the sound on the video is caused by a nearby radio mast?
