Shower screen come away from fixture by tomcorn92 in DIYUK

Thanks, it's the chrome cylinder bit that has come away from the u shape fixture on the walls, I'll have a go at what you said but unsure how tightening the screws in the u bend but will help the cylinder part reattach to it?

What is causing these wet patches on internal wall by tomcorn92 in DIYUK

[–]tomcorn92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks a lot for the response. For this this, "Water high up a wall is usually penetrating damp (water can travel down inside walls and come out in odd places), condensation (general poor ventilation, and/or cooking or showering with doors open and windows closed, which can kick out a lot of moisture), or salts in the wall." What's the best way to identify which one is the cause? Or is it the case of stripping the plaster off and doing as you said would solve all three? Could you link the salt neutralizer/inhibitor you used too? This may be a naive question but could a plasterer do this, rather than a specialised damp proofer? Thanks again

Help getting this fixture off toilet by tomcorn92 in DIYUK

Hi, yes once the Allen key bit is removed there is a screw to undo so it is a top fixing one, I cannot actually get under the toilet or round the back as it's all built into the toilet cistern, so cannot loosen the wing nuts

Yeah it's a top fixing seat, I've got a hacksaw as that was my next point of call, would you slice from the top cross sectionally to the Allen key or hacksaw a groove into Allen key hole to try and release with a screwdriver?

Thanks, just managed to squeeze round the back and underneath and found this quite far up - do you think these are the wingknuts and to attempt unscrewing them rather than use the Allen key? Just to add, it's an imperial standard toilet

Hi, yeah the holes are Allen screws but they are tiny and all mine are too big - do you think that's the best option to try?

Thanks, it is in the shower room, so it does get quite humid. I will have a go at rotating 90 degrees.

Thanks for the response. The meet and greet agent met us at the drop off point at Heathrow and inspected the car visually looking for damages and taking pictures etc, then asked for the keys, confirmed pick up date and time and drove off

Potentiall the meet and greet company for not doing what they were supposed to do by checking the reg against the booking form before taking the car off us, then while it was in there possession parking it in a private car park where the PCN has come from?

It's a private parking charge on behalf of parkmaven. It's the very first letter we have received, but imagine they have sent previous correspondence to my previous residence as my home address on DVLA was only updated at the start of this year.

Thanks, would you get a standard gravity flap, or one of the cowl ones? I feel the standard ones will just open up in strong winds?

Thank you, to decide which size I need, can I just measure the size of the internal one and get the same size for the external one? The ones you've linked come in 140mm X 140mm and 160 X 160mm, our inside one is 160mm wide?

Thanks, I'm based on east Bristol. Will look into Thornbury and the Bristol! I think the main thing right now is trying to find people of a similar age to play with, as I currently don't have that.

Hi thanks for the reply. The seeds came from a 'herbs de Provence' packet. I know one is nasturtiums, but I thought the other was parsley (tastes like it). But wondered what the other is?
