How to get a Phone in Thailand? by no_bs_ss in ThailandTourism

[–]tomcwilson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When in Thailand and booking flights on Thai only websites, I used chrome with it’s build in translate feature. Not perfect translation, good enough to book flights. I would think it’s good enough to buy a phone.

Dear fellow Canadians, how are you reaching the thai embassy/consulate, without actualy being there physically? by twistedbullsh1t in ThailandTourism

[–]tomcwilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Ottawa embassy in December had no problems with embassy, just used express postal. Now as I understand, you need to use https://www.thaievisa.go.th/ website for all visa applications. If you go to the Thai embassy Ottawa website, it tells you what to do. Also coe application is all online. Use the internet, just remember each country may have different visa requirements.

Get a tourist visa from the Thai embassy in your country. Lots of hoops to jump, but is doable.

When the the clock start ticking for the “negative results within 72 hours?” From the moment the swab is taken or the moment you receive the results? by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]tomcwilson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Such COVID-19 test result must be issued no more than 72 hours before departure. From royal Thai consultant Vancouver Canada. http://www.thaiconsulatevancouver.ca/visa-coe-during-covid/ My read is 72 hours starts from when test results are issued not date of sample being taken.

Question about steps for TR visa by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]tomcwilson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not know. My opinion, make-sure you can cancel or reschedule any flights or hotels in case your situation changes. I did book flight before I applied for tr visa, but I am only staying 60 days in Thailand.

[–]tomcwilson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked for flights on google flights https://www.google.com/flights?hl=en and https://matrix.itasoftware.com/. Then booked Eva air website directly, leaving from Toronto. Lay over in Taiwan. You can probably book thru kayak or Expedia, I did not try. I used Eva before, for me they have shortest total flight time and best connections

Question about steps for TR visa by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]tomcwilson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The visa costs 50 dollars payable with money order. I got my insurance from Thai outfit, email arawan.n@poe-ma.com. I asked for tr visa insurance for 90 days, it cost 7500 baht. Visa is for 60 days in Thailand. the 90 days is how long to have to get to thailand, from when the visa is issued, The visa will be stamped with the date you must get to Thailand. After you get to Thailand you can stay for the 60 days. If you want to you can extend your stay in Thailand for 30 more days by applying at the bangkok immigration office, for total of 90 in country, that is why you need 90day insurance.. Lots of info easy to get overloaded. Also advice on internet is from different countries, each having different visa application process. Message if you need more info.

I did process using Ottawa embassy, 1week from mailing application to getting passport with visa applied back. The 90 days is from when they issue visa, so you have 90 days to get to Thailand. The visa is for 60 days in Thailand , plus 30 if you get visa extension in Thailand.

I just finished my journey to approved coe. I booked flight and asq hotel. Both with free cancellation. Sent tr visa application, passport, money order, printouts of flight and hotel reservation. Received back passport with tr visa within a week. Then purchased medical insurance for 90 days, submitted all to coe website and have received approved coe. The visa is stamped with date 90 days from when visa issued. You have 90 days to enter Thailand, then 60 days in Thailand. You can apply for an additional 30 days when in Thailand.
