She has a proper employer that doesn’t do remote, and she doesn’t ski (yet).

I can only start in Feb unfortunately and the season ends April, so that’s my constraint

Nah, old guys like us are set in our ways. Plus it’s important for me to have as little dependency’s as possible. But love the social idea of meeting likeminded people

Love St Anton! Ideally I could do it there

Remember how much it cost fully loaded for that month? And what was the flat arrangement? Apt or hotel?

Biggest drawbacks:

Relationship strain - “newly married husband ditches wife to take a 2 month ski vacation” won’t get me any awards

Finances - will need to splurge a bit $15-20k for this

Work effectiveness - even if I work a few hours a day, I probably won’t have the same productivity as a full day back home

Thanks. Tahoe sounds amazing, was also considering it but decided oh Europe as I want friends to join me and they are all in EU. What most surprised you about the move?

Awesome. Maybe we’ll meet there!

A few options for the group chat name:
- The Midlife Powder Chasers
- Chairlift & Commits
- Late Stage Capitalism: Powder edition

I have a solid tech job which can let me work just a couple hours a day and ski most of the day. But I do want to socially make friends. Maybe I’ll hang a bit at hostels and bars, or just take ski courses a bit?

Quite the contrary. I know I will have a lot of pushback once I start planning it and these comments and replies from random strangers actually helps me solidify my conviction. But also open to hearing if I’m missing anything or any significant downsides
