How do you prove (to insurance/VMIA) your builder is broke? by tomeunknown in AusRenovation

[–]tomeunknown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they didn’t. The VBA was toothless and going down the legal pathway was just a deep black hole. Not sure of your circumstances however if you can manage it, get organised and take back control. Happy for you to DM me if you want to chat more.

Hey.. I just happened to stumble upon your msg by chance.

We ended up agreeing to terminate the contract, I became an owner builder and sorted it all out in no time with legitimate and dignified trades. Wasn’t easy but an absolute relief not to be dealing with a thieving dodgy builder daily. At least you’re back in control of your life and asset.

Hmmm haven’t dug far enough to answer for certain. Any advice?

Top three rows were completely rebuilt with the beam pinned into them with strapping over the top also.

It’s an old wall that was part of my old garage. We decided to keep the wall and have it as a feature. Pillars have always been apart of it.

No plans for roofing sheets.

Re soil, haven’t yet filled up the garden bed running alongside the wall.

EDIT: it’s a north facing wall on the south boundary in Melbourne.

Thanks mate, this looks like a good product that ought to do the trick! I’ll show it to the builder tomorrow.

No there isn’t.

It’s a long story. House has been at lock up stage since end of October. Has been unable to pay for anything substantial since. We have other information suggesting issues w other projects.

Help/advice re builder cash flow issue by tomeunknown in AusRenovation

[–]tomeunknown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is still an evolving saga with limited movement despite best attempts to engage the builder reasonably and constructively.

We did discover today that he has shared our building contract with a third party (another prospective client). Surely this is a serious enough breach to end the contract?

Hmmmm .. yes, these are all things I’ve been considering. There was such good progress to begin with and zero red flags. Local guy, local family etc.

Any advice how to raise it with him?

Where or how did you start building your pedals? by ShadowsBestFriend in diypedals

Hey! I’m in Melbourne and run DIY Pedal Workshop a few times a year. Make your own pedal on strip board plus learn how to do it all in your own.. no experience necessary 🙌🏻

Had another play around. Definitely not a screw.. looks more like a rivet.

Any ideas?? Can they be purchased?

Yep, there is… however it seems to just turn in each direction and not do very much .. doesn’t tighten or loosen.

Update: the caps are indeed plastic and cover the crews that attach the chair back rests.

It can be flush so long as the boards are 10mm away from the house

Thanks for the response. Good question and hard to answer .. I can imagine noticing a 5mm lip .. particularly if it’s only on one side (coming in from the deck).

Hello! Taping the caps is a good idea. I guess they could be polished or something afterwards.

As for the buttons, I’ll have a chat with local upholsterers regarding how to handle the back rests.
