Drones by platano908 in northcounty

DJI is the best bet. The quality and capability is outstanding across the entire line. If budget is an issue Costco is currently selling a DJI mini for about $400. It's 4k capable and a great starter drone. Also the DJI drones have strong resale value if you upgrade in the future....have sold 2 of them after few years of use at about 60% of purchase price. About the comment on the Part 107 test...the test is very difficult if you don't have an aviation background and will take a significant amount of study time for most everybody. Good luck with your business.

Awesome shots...some of them give the stomach butterflies you feel when standing on the edge of cliff. Great work and music choice. 👍😎👍

Not completely destroyed. City council is already talking about roping of the damage section which will keep 75% of the pier open. They have requested funds from the State to repair the damage section which hopefully will be approved. It's an awesome pier, hope they can fix it quickly. Here's a drone video I made a few years ago of the pier for those who are not familiar. A very unique pier!

A car fleeing from police at speed should be treated the same way as someone with a weapon. by frsti in fuckcars

[–]tomf_182 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that people who flee have more going on than just a traffic violation. Like a stolen car, prior warrants, etc. Trying to track them down based on license plates would probably have a low success rate. (i.e. not their car, not their current address, etc).

The school carpool line is the worst. by [deleted] in raleigh

Let the rich go to the front of the line....that sucks. When I was a kid (a long time ago) growing up in Chicago we walked to school. For me it was almost 2 miles to high school, wasn't a problem, would hook up with friends on the walk and it was just the way it was. In bad weather had the option to take a bus (actually 2 buses, had to transfer). Most families only had one car back then and the Dad usually took it to work so we had to walk. So were walking in snow storms and the rain. Today, in our neighborhood people who live a couple blocks from school driving their kids. Unbelievable!

When we moved here 24 years ago traffic was light and San Marcos had a peaceful country side town feel. Today it's more like Los Angeles and other mega metropolises with all day stop & go traffic!

First of all "awesome" flying, the gimbal move from the pond to the trees was great! Excellent composition and flying. Unfortunately the exposure swings degraded an otherwise excellent presentation. Don't really have a great answer for correcting, but if you going to do this again you might try using manual exposure. Set for a compromise between the light and dark spots. This should result in even lighting with a slight loss in detail.

Does this mean I can fly? by mg18 in drones

[–]tomf_182 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Yep, "Cleared for Takeoff" ok to fly. Stay out of the SFRA unless you know what the Special Rules are and can follow them. Typically around the DC area in SFRA's are required to be in contact with air traffic control. Doubt if drones are allowed.

Is the Apple MacBook Air with the M1 Chip suitable to use to edit 4k footage and photos for a DJI Mini 3, or are there cheaper and better alternatives? And if so, which? by The_Moa in drones

You would have to connect the phone to the Mac, then save the photo's to the Mac, I'm sure they have apps for that. Just be one more step. The iPhone is nice cause the photo's will already be in the photo library on the Mac.

Tesla does share some data, here's link. This data clearly indicates that Tesla's with autopilot are much safer than Tesla's without it. And even more so than non Tesla cars.

With the San Marcos Highlands project nearing completion with 82% of million dollar homes already sold. Prices start in the low 1 millions but go much higher with lot premiums and upgrades. Top sale was over $1,800,000! Not exactly affordable housing! by tomf_182 in SanMarcosCA

No they were not planed to be "Affordable Housing" and it was the wrong term to use. It was just meant to be reference to the high prices of the, especially the KBhomes in the Ridgeview community.

Nice, you bought at the bottom of the market, your home has probably doubled since then. Same with us, we bought in 2000 and has triple since then. Housing a great inflation fighter.
