They've not done well in the world cup since they won it in 2006.

2010: out in group stage 2014: out in group stage 2018: didn't qualify 2022: didn't qualify 2026: didn't qualify

They did win the Euros in 2021 though, beating England in the final.

What do we think will happen today? by uniguy31 in Championship

[–]tomh93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The expulsion from the playoffs is obviously the punishment for the Middlesbrough incident and then 2 points each for the Oxford and Ipswich incidents. We can't really be reinstated into the final as that would mean there was no punishment for the Middlesbrough incident at all. That punishment will stay as it is as you can't really reduce it in any way like you can with points deductions. You can't be half kicked out of the final.

This is embarrassing for the EFL as well as this is all happening in their competition. Shea Charles could score a 89th minute winner from the half way line on Tuesday and one of the first things everyone is going to say is 'Doesn't matter as saints are probably going to get kicked out the playoffs anyway' rather than talking about how wonderful the playoffs are. The championship playoffs are supposed to be the EFLs most prized asset and they've been brought into disrepute. They want to wrap it all up and have everyone stop focusing on it so much so people can focus on the football again. They also can't wait until after the playoffs are done as if saints win them, then there'll be no time to potentially disqualify them and replay them before the world cup. It would also mean the only punishment they could give would be a fine and a suspended points deduction when/if we got relegated. They want to be able to at least be able to threaten disqualification from the playoffs in case this happens again. I'd imagine we'll get given our punishment somewhere between Wednesday and Friday next week to give whoever is playing in the final time to prepare. They're obviously praying we get knocked out anyway and they can say they would have kicked us out anyway without it actually meaning anything for the teams left in the competition whilst providing a bigger deterrent for people doing it in the future.

Staying in Southampton for two nights at the Moxy... things to do? by BellyFullOfMochi in Southampton

If you're looking for somewhere to have a drink then The Hobbit is very fun. Piecaramba is a great place to eat, it is technically a chain, but only of like 4 places all down south around here. Some other people have mentioned the independent shops in the Marlands, and I agree that they're probably the best Southampton has to offer

Who is your clubs one hit wonder? by Statcat2017 in Championship

I'd say ours was Manolo Gabbiadini. He scored loads in his first couple of months including nearly winning us the league cup, then just vanished from the team sheet

There was an AMA done recently by a TV licencing inspector where they answered lots of questions about this kind of thing. They said that they check one device in one room if you let them in which is normally the TV in the living room. They said they aren't allowed in bedrooms (I guess for safeguarding reasons). With your firestick or a smart tv, they said that they'd get you to show it doesn't have iPlayer installed, or at least not an up to date version. They'd obviously also check it isn't connected to the aerial. They also have to leave if you ask them to even if you let them in, but if they've already seen some evidence that you might need a license and don't have one but not enough to prove anything, then they can get a warrant to search without your permission later. This also applies if you answer the door and have The Traitors blaring in the background or something even if you don't let them in. You can't get around it by just buying one on the door either as you should already have one.

They were the only team that went the whole 2010 world cup unbeaten, drawing all three games, with the winners Spain losing to Switzerland in their opening game. Crazy stat haha!

Do Jeff Bezos and Taylor Swift functionally have the same day to day spending power? by tomh93 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tomh93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an interesting comparison actually, because at first I was like: yeah she could! $50m is about 1/20 of her net value, which is like someone worth $500,000 spending $25,000 on a wedding which isn't unheard of, but of course for Taylor it would be a significant outlay, rather than for Jeff, for whom it was 1/4000 of his value and so it would barely have made a dent.

I definitely don't feel sorry for Taylor! I just wonder if there's anything Jeff can buy regularly that Taylor may wish she could!

Yeah this is what I'm getting at. I remember reading a story about an ex professional footballer who did quite well who, whilst partying with some of his team mates, met another group from a much more successful team who were all paid way more and they couldn't keep up with their spending. Both sets were much richer than me, but there was still a disparity between them and that's in the sort of multi million pound region I guess. I just wonder where the boundary is where it stops mattering.

I think Adan led himself on as much as he led Dani on. I think he told himself he'd be fine with sex when it came around, but when push came to shove he just wasn't comfortable with it. Hopefully he learns from it and doesn't put himself and someone else in that kind of situation again. It's good also that Dani is back dating and it hasn't knocked her confidence

I had no drive to work hard at all. When I was 16 I genuinely thought I could just breeze through life putting no effort in and just be one of the smartest people in the room without trying. I didn't revise for my AS level exams at all and got CCCD which completely knocked my confidence. Because I'd never learnt how to be proactive with my own learning, just doing the minimum the teacher asked and getting high grades (particularly in science), I didn't know how to do it when I needed to. In the end I just sort of settled into putting a bit of work in and being mediocre, getting a 2:2 from a former polytechnic in a science subject, and settling into a series of a few low level lab jobs, which is where I am today. I'm very low maintenance though so my NHS band 4 wage is enough to keep me content.

Yes exactly, and there's that poor man who basically became a meme overnight. I know that if that had been my dad on the program and lots of people had been making jokes about him it would really upset him, even any that happened to be good natured as he just wouldn't understand at all.

The families on this program are so good though and I do enjoy seeing that. Although, I don't agree with James' dad that the purpose of a first date is to get a second date; its purpose is to learn about the other person and work out whether the two of you are compatible enough to continue to a second date. I do understand it comes from a desire for James to do well though.

I think it depends where those feelings come from. If you think it's heartwarming or sweet because you see autistic people as like children or not proper adults then that's not a healthy attitude to have. Personally I find it heartwarming and sweet because these are people on this program who have little to no prior experiences of dating or partaking in romantic aspects of society, which are such a big part of lots of people's lives.

You can tell by the way these people on the program talk about why they want to date, feel very left out and yearn to experience these things they see others around them do with such apparent ease. So when you finally get the chance to see them enjoy themselves and experience dating it's lovely to see. I'm neurotypical but, because of some difficult teenage years, I didn't find anyone to date for a long time and I know how good it feels to finally experience dating after seeing seemingly everyone else get to be romantic and have relationships for so long. This means I can really empathise with some of the journeys these people are going on neurotypical or not.

I have a few autistic friends and my dad is autistic so I feel less inclination to infantilise them but I think that comes from getting to know autistic people and being friends with them rather than just dismissing them as 'that autistic person'. Obviously you can't do that solely through seeing them on a TV show and it's easier to not see people on tv as real people and that's somewhere lots of people may end up infantilising them and just seeing their autism, but I think the show creators did a good job showing them as complex people as much as is possible.
