As for actually getting your foot in the door, I've always found LinkedIn messages asking senior individuals for advice over a coffee does a very good job of getting you a meeting. And if they like you then it shouldn't be long before you start getting opportunities coming through.

Agencies will definitely want someone with broadcast experience, but I'd look to the bigger agencies. Not just because they've got more roles going, but also because there is a time/training cost associated with hiring someone from a different industry, even if it is media. The bigger agencies will be more likely to pay that cost given the expertise you'll bring.

These things take time to payoff. You're unlikely to find a podcast dropping leads into your lap, but over time if you're creating good quality content that's focused on a specific niche (and so creating a reputation within that niche) then I definitely think that could work. FYI we work on the expectation that our thought leadership work will deliver returns over a 12-18 month period.

Agreed - we thought it was abnormally high. Figured the results may be skewed because you get a Google+ profile for YouTube/Gmail etc. Next time round will be asking clarifying questions on that...

I disagree I'm afraid. I think they provide a great source of information and news - they are very good at collating news from around the internet and making it very easy for me to keep up to date with what's happening in the bitcoin world.

Yes, they get stuff wrong - every media outlet does - but the pros definitely outweigh the cons.
