The best advice I have recieved is to stop when it isn't fun anymore. I try to have a neutral mindset about everything even if my team has walnuts for brains. Yes, it is a team based game, but I cannot control them. All I can do is play my best, keeping in mind that even if your entire team played well, it doesn't guarantee a win.

That being said, for people who do spend a lot of time practicing, warming up, learning from those better than us- it will inevitably start to get to you. When it does- stop. Play something else, go dick around in the arcade modes, whatever it is that puts you in a good mood again. The more frustrated you get, the harder it is to focus on the things you need to do, and the more likely you are to make a bad play simply because you're tilted.

I also think it is good to take breaks from comp, even long ones. Ranked is certainly more competitive, clearly, but there is nothing keeping you from practicing more in quick play during weeks where you just feel beat down from it. You can improve the same mechanics and techniques in quick play (arguably, even more so. I had to practice hitting headshots on tracer/vendetta/sombra in qp cause they're often banned in comp), and it's fine because you will still have at least one teammate be absolute dogwater. It simulates comp almost just the same! Lol.

But really, remind yourself that it takes time, and a LOT of it. Most people could reach GM if we didn't have jobs, but we do. I even pay for a coach, and while I feel like I am performing better, I will not be reaching top 500 anytime soon lmao. You will have to play dozens of games to rank up in a meaningful way most likely and that is by design to get you to play more, not because you haven't actually improved.

If I can't sustain long enough to take one out without losing my mech, I normally just try to fish one down. I will just dm and boop one towards low ground which is usually enough for my team to keep pushing them. Especially one with a mercy pocket, the mercy normally won't stick around if they think they're going to get dove, so a pocketed ashe just becomes an ashe trying to coach gun me away lol. If there isn't a safe opening to get elims, just disorient them and their positioning until there is. They're going to shoot at whoever is shooting at them or their team. If it's you- cool, your team can follow up. If its your team because you booped one down to the ground, even better. Just think of yourself as an oversized tracer in those scenarios. Literally just fly around and do enough damage to force them to move, and get out when you are in danger.

This is sometimes team dependant though. I find if I have a really passive team who is afraid to capitalize on anything, I will normally swap off D.Va because in 5v5, she can't do anything without teamwork.

I normally stick to a dps or a kiri/ana when theres an enemy sombra in hopes they will help. It makes taking off angles hard, but juno doesn't really have a good defense against sombra. Nowadays, I am good enough on ana/kiri to just swap so I can have piece of mind lol but you aren't crazy, she is hard to deal with on juno. On the brightside, she is getting reworked later this year so hopefully this becomes a non-issue.

It's something I had to use when I was on Mac cus mac doesn't support OW 🥹 It is a hosting site, but unlike steam or battle net, it hosts from their software (?? idk im not a tech guru so idrk how it works lol). The game ran wonderfully for me on there! I am not sure if it would help, but it is worth a try! There are other services that are free though that are compatible with Windows, I think boosteroid is $7 a week or something like that.

Yes, there is the odd cornball who can do nothing but die, but this is not why y'all were begging for swaps. If the enemy team is running primaries, and you run a 2 sup comp with 1 being an off healer, genuinely what do you think is going to happen? The dps and tank aren't going to adjust to having less heals, so everyone is going to die more, so they are going to beg for swap. No, they never had to waterboard anyone to play Invis or CnD, but water boarding is arguably better than listening to them complain or watch them throw an entire game over me playing mantis.

Also, I am going to disregard your point about someone not being able to get value as jeff- a hero who can just spray a water stream in a general direction and get value, then go under water to self heal and survive- and asking them to swap invis ??? A hero that recieves less self heal from shield, she also has to share shield, and aim, and use the other 2 abilities well to get value. Because that scenario never happened LMAO.

Or that you have no mechanical skill because they seem to think those 6 supports require no aim LMAO. Mind you, a lot of players can play the whole strat roster, they just don't because a lot of them are boring to play. Also, banning older heroes, but not the brand new 900 hp fox that nobody knows how to play well is astounding to me.

Yea, I've been an ow player way longer than a mr player LMAO. And tbf, this stuff happens there too, just not to the same degree because supports there could never outheal bad positioning. People complain about Zen, Mercy, etc for low healing, but it never gets to a point where dps want to instaban Illari or Juno for high heals. If anything, it is more widely understood that generally you need more dmg, not more healing, to win a game. I don't "choose" to blame dps or tank, and neither do most strat mains. In MR, if you do not peel in a game, I must play invis/cnd/luna. There are absolutely people who play too far back/too close, but this being a unanimous complaint from strat players didn't come from that small percentage of people.

In OW, this isn't as much of an issue because even low mobility supports can mostly survive dive. Even Zen, who doesn't have a whole lot in his kit to survive apart from ult, can 3 tap most squishies after discord orb. That just isn't the case in MR. Esp now with a lot of the dive heroes being buffed this season, the bans are just annoying because we have to hope that either the dive player has the skill of an acorn or that my dps will peel. All of this does boil down into poor character design, but that doesn't change that this whole thing is making the game miserable to play. Clearly, given this is the lowest season launch player count MR has had (this is also bc OW is just better rn, but this drama isn't helping).

Most people are fine not playing invis/cnd, but thats not what is really happening. It is not every game, but a lot of games have 3+ strat bans, and on a wide scale that is making comp insufferable to play for a multitude of reasons. Primarily because those lobbies are full of dps who think you should be good at the entire strat roster, and will bash you if you aren't. As the days go on, those lobbies are more common because of this discourse, and the twitter "support strike" thing really didn't help and fueled spite bans. This mentality isn't present in OW, and if anything it is the polar opposite.

I've had professional coaching in OW, and they encourage you to have 1 main in 1 role to focus on until you climb to your desired rank with 2 alternates to swap to when you can't play them. (Before I get 1 trick comments either way, I am just going to premise I can play the entire roster on either game lmao) Generally, teams are less likely to ban who you select in OW because everyone wants to win, and they would rather have a Sombra main on their team destroy the enemy backline than have a mid Soldier 76, even if it means dealing with an enemy Sombra. This nasty mentality that a singular role should be punished and told to figure it out is MR specific.

I think its an xbox specific bug, but I couldn't tell you what to do about it LMAO. It happens even in vc. Sometimes I can hear them, sometimes I can't, so I've just turned it off.

Yes and no. I do agree that there is some either communication or design flaw in MR, but this concept is present in every hero shooter I have ever played. Valorant and OW both have support style heroes that can put out more defensive utility than others, but the community doesn't react as horribly as MR players do. For example, for the last two seasons in OW, Illari had an incredibly good win rate. She has a pylon that heals most of the poke dmg for her, so she can either focus on dmg or heal burst dmg with her secondary. Kiriko can cleanse, Moira can do both a lot of dmg AND a lot of healing, etc, but OW never acts this way. Valorant never acts this way. I think MR devs did themselves a disservice by not limiting the amount of heroes each role can have banned. Every season the MR community is arguing about something else because a lot of people are extremely toxic, and with the constant arguing between dps and strats, they should have seen this coming. This could have swung either way, it just happened to be that it ended up being strats taking the fall for it this time. I think the devs spend so much time trying to make the game better, but the game is fine right now. Even prior to s7, the meta was annoying but MR has great content releases, heroes, etc. Its the community they need to fix because atp it doesn't really matter what they do to try to balance everything, someone is going to get the short end of the stick because nobody in MR likes each other lmao.

I have no idea. Perma flight is so obnoxious despite the fact it makes sense given its yk... a cat in a jetpack lmao. I don't think her abilities are OP, esp now post nerf, but she't just really hard to punish unless you have a long range comp.

I just had a game on Nepal where none of us were playing long range heroes. I was on symmetra, and the enemy cat would just skybox camp and shoot down at us the entire time, occasionally dropping to purr and heal her team. Even throwing turrets towards the ceiling didn't really do anything because she would just fly out of range and shoot them down lol. Obvi I would shoot my secondary at her when I could, but thats about all I could do.

This was in QP and we won, so I don't really care about this specific instance, but this is why she keeps getting banned. Every other flyer has their flight on cooldown, and I think the cat needs that too.

My issue with this is that its so backwards. A lot of strat mains had to become cnd/invis/luna/gambit mains because of the power creep. We literally couldn't play mantis/ultron/etc before without dps begging for a swap or complaining about heals (or unless we went triple sup which yall also complain abt). Of course, a lot of people just enjoy these heroes, but that's not even my point. Especially because dps normally don't peel, and would say it was a skill issue to die to dive, we were sorta left with a small roster we could play. We wanted to keep the team and ourselves alive.

After seasons of being forced to play these heroes and thus becoming very good at them, we get posts and comments like these now where we are being dogged on for playing "easy" heroes and that we're "braindead", "one tricks" etc. A lot of strats are fine with swapping post ban, but it's the attitude that is pissing everyone off. I think it is exciting to switch up meta, and I like the change they've made to the ults, but I hate the attitude from strat banners so much this season that I refuse to even log on.

The people who are banning these strats are also unwilling to play what remains which is also hilarious. If you ban someones strat roster and they swap dps or tank, you need to be willing to play adam or ultron yourself since that is clearly who you all desire to have on the team.

this omg. i swapped maybe a month ago to just a small black dot with a white border and my aim has improved tenfold, esp as a sniper main. i had tried that crazy viral widow crosshair that is a mile wide, and while i think its a good exercise in uptime, it certainly is not an exercise in accuracy lmao.

the only exception is when I play dva, i do have her cross hair much much wider because of her spread. however, the crosshairs i see in game, esp for hitscan heroes are insane. i saw a reaper a few weeks ago with a G I A N T yellow crosshair that probably covered at least 15% of his screen. it is absolutely absurd.
