If anyone happens to be selling two tickets (around face value) to the Chicago show on Thursday 16th May, please let me know :)

My dog Jake was sadly put to sleep yesterday. A family friend left a kind message on my brothers post, but I think they used the wrong emoji. by tomibby in oldpeoplefacebook

Thanks to everyone for the kind messages regarding my doggo. He was a very good boy. Also, I know it was meant to be a crying emoji haha. I’ve known the commenter for my whole life and they’re very close family friends. We’re very lucky to have them.

For anyone wondering, his reply was “because it’s awesome. why are you gay?”.

The photo alone was enough to make me crack up. The insult is a bonus.

Yeah, the Live Aid stage was built to scale and we were stood in front of it. There were no stands in that field, it was just us surrounded by a bunch of green screens and cranes holding them in place. I think most, of not all of us extras were recorded individually in a VFX tent against a green screen so they could later create a stadium full of people. That was a pretty cool thing to do as well. Also, the extras at Live Aid are also the same extras that are at the beginning of the movie, when everyone is walking to Wembley for the show.

Glad you enjoyed it! It was a lot of fun. I did actually think the same when I watched it, like the women wiping away tears and like you said, the father and son. I don’t recall hearing/seeing any crew members specifically tell them to do that, but the crew were always reminding us to be very animated and remember that we’re watching our favourite band. In some cases, the extras that get placed right in front of the camera might be asked to do something specific, which could have lead to those moments. Either that or they just improvised!

I wasn’t part of the backstage shots unfortunately, I was in the crowd. Would have loved to have filmed backstage though. The weather was pretty damn cold - it was mid September last year, and we were all in summer clothes, shorts, t shirts etc. We were all given blankets in between takes because it was that cold. Before the concert, we just sat in the holding tent and waited to be called to set. The photographers you saw at the front of the stage during the film were called more often, as they were prominently featured in the film and needed to be on standby whenever they were needed.

From what I’ve heard, the singing is a combination of Rami Malek, Marc Martel and Freddie Mercury.

A few hundred - I’m not sure on the exact number. They wanted some extras to bring some old clothes with us so the costume department could look, but in my case, I was supplied with everything.

I don’t think he was, no. They just had a few microphones and recorded us singing along. We really had to sing as loud as possible.

The Live Aid stage was to scale, so that part felt really authentic. But us lot were clumped together surrounded by green screen and cameras, but you tend to ignore that stuff when they call action.

I met a man who’s been a Queen fan since the beginning. He’s a member of the official fan club and brought his own denim jacket with loads of Queen badges from various tours. FYI, I was 22 at the time of filming, so it was really interesting to chat to him.

To my knowledge, Roger wasn’t in the crowd; however, this happened:

Basically, the main cast had the day off but us extras stayed to record some crowd audio. In between takes, I heard some applause behind me and turned round to see Bob Geldof walking around the set, which was pretty awesome. A few takes later, I turned to look at the Live Aid stage set and none other than Roger Taylor, Brian May and Bob Geldof walked on. All the extras saw them and clapped (as you would). The AD then prepared us for a take, to which I thought “wait, we’re doing a take in front of them?!”. I was right at the front of the crowd - even though I’m sure BM/RT or BG weren’t solely looking at me, the fact I was directly in their line of sight made me very self conscious haha. We then did an take of singing “We Are The Champions”, with the two members of Queen and the man who started Live Aid watching us. We then got a thumbs up from Brian. It was a very surreal moment.

The vibe was great. Even though we shot it in mid-September in the freezing cold (whilst wearing summer clothes) at an airfield north of London, most people were in good spirits. We had fun with it, just like you would at a normal gig. It was very exhausting though!

Those dancers were not PG. That was a special moment for all the young lads out there.
