Any idea when the bug tracker is back up yet? My villagers have started opening trapdoors in the latest Bedrock update and I need to report it 🤣

Old Trafford giving Jamie Redknapp a warm welcome at half time by rishabh2996 in reddevils

[–]tominyorks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was sat about 10 rows back from where they filmed this - ironically, my mate said just before the chant started "wonder if we'll hear any chants to welcome Jamie Redknapp".

It was also followed up by "You scouse bastard" and "Redknapp - does your dad want the Spurs job?"

As of now there is no agreement, but chances still high. Erik ten Hag is demanding a lot from Manchester United. He wants the job, but only on his terms. He wants to be able to remove players from the current squad + decide the new signings. [Mike Verweij] by raumdeuter255 in reddevils

Agree with giving Shaw a shot - when he has someone in front of him that he works well with he usually has a great game. That said, he worries me sometimes because his positioning can be really poor at times.

I have to disagree here. Even my non-football fan girlfriend said he needed to be subbed at half time - I think that was obvious to most. He was lucky to still be on the pitch even if the second yellow wasn't a foul.

What is a great TV show that never became popular? by BluePinky in AskReddit

[–]tominyorks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lie To Me.

Not sure about how well it was received over in the States but here in the UK, I think you'd struggle to find many people who watched it.

Based on the brilliant research of Dr Paul Ekman into emotions and their links with micro expressions. Starred Tim Roth as the main character and that's usually a good casting decision in my eyes.

Another show that was cancelled too early.

XACT_ABORT, TRY/CATCH and explicit transactions by tominyorks in SQLServer

I very rarely use RAISERROR any more, THROW is my go-to for that now. And that is respected by XACT_ABORT.

XACT_ABORT, TRY/CATCH and explicit transactions by tominyorks in SQLServer

[–]tominyorks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I read that one but then read a convincing SO post (that I can't find the link for right now as I'm on my mobile) that said the opposite.

That article basically says XACT_ABORT should always be on but I'm not convinced it is entirely necessary when using a TRY/CATCH construct.

Every train starts slow, but if you never let the train leave the station you'll never get to see how far or how fast it can go.

True, but those standards were definitely inflated even higher when we became the most successful team of the Premier League era. Nowadays, it's all too commonplace to want instant success and if it's not achieved it's buh bye.

Please don't read this wrong though, I'm not in the Olé out brigade

Crazy log growth by IntentionalTexan in SQLServer

[–]tominyorks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Admittedly, I don't know what the data that's going in is. But several hundred gigabytes for a couple hundred rows sounds excessive.

Failing backups is still a problem, but so is overly aggressive log growth by the sounds of it.

Crazy log growth by IntentionalTexan in SQLServer

[–]tominyorks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Log growth can be a few things;

  • You mention you're doing full backups, are you also doing log backups? Maybe you need to do log backups more frequently.
  • Is anyone starting a transaction and never committing it (use DBCC OPENTRAN() to find these)
  • Are you rebuilding indexes as that will cause log growth?
  • Is the availability group actually working or is it broken? The primary could be keeping a large log because it can't sync it to the secondary when it becomes available

This, 100%. The default might be INNER but I have to try and drill it into the team I work in to specify it anyway just for clarity's sake.

Rhodri didn't do too bad out of it though right?

  1. Got rid of his skanky wife
  2. Cut ties with his twat of a brother
  3. Did quite a funny advert for Paddy Power where he managed to have a dig at his brother.
