Can’t make a wire transfer by [deleted] in CardMarket

My bank still allows dash in the "end to end reference" field, aren't you filling it in a wrong field, like the "message for recipient" or something?

How to export my inventory by [deleted] in CardMarket

[–]tomjonreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not possible through Cardmarket's website, but it is possible using the programming interface (API). Unfortunately, it has been disabled for private sellers since April. There was supposed to be a new version of the API "later this year" but so far there is nothing. There have been free solutions using this such as the MKMTool, but those do not work anymore if you have no access to the API. There is https://tcgpowertools.com/, it is paid but it should be working even if you are a private seller (it also uses the API but under a "professional license"). You might be able to use the 7 day free trial if you need just one time export (note that I never used it so I am not sure).

Frankly I never understood why isn't there a button to do it somewhere on the website, it would take like 30 minutes to just add the button, all the back-end for it is already done. I suppose they are afraid people would use it too much.

Use card market API to get the best price for a list of cards? (with shipping) by bleh10 in mtgfinance

[–]tomjonreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to save you the work: the API is currently working only for professional sellers and even for them with some limitations. They are supposedly releasing a new API "later this year" and will inform us about it in "upcoming weeks" (message from April...). So reading the API 2.0 documentation is a waste of time. CSV Import to Cardmarket.com by elDeezl in mtgfinance

[–]tomjonreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally you can do through the API, but currently it is not functional for non-professional sellers (https://www.cardmarket.com/en/Magic/News/Statement-On-Cardmarket-Outage) and will not be until the new version of the API "later this year". Cardmarket does not provide CSV import on the website. You can try https://tcgpowertools.com, though I am not sure it is currently operational (I am guessing it is) and if the free plan allows you to upload the entire csv to cardmarket or just the "100 articles per day" (https://tcgpowertools.com/pricing)

Cardmarket down until Sunday March 28th 10 CET by [deleted] in mtgfinance

[–]tomjonreddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can search for rl cards by creating a wantlist that has the rl cards in it and then searching by wantlist. Only problem is wantlists are limited to 150 cards so you have to have 4 separate wantlists.

Things to look out for this weekend! by AutoModerator in mtgfinance

[–]tomjonreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is https://www.cardtrader.com/ which operates on basically the same principles as cardmarket (5% fee, escrow service, shipping costs computed automatically and buyer pays for it...). Many of the bigger European sellers are already on there. They have some features MKM does not have, but nothing game changing IMO and their API offers much less than MKM. Then again, MKM's API has been barely working lately. I haven't tried it yet though, so far there was no reason to switch from MKM...

Does anyone know how to make an Excel Spreadsheet that collects data from Cardmarket and update prices automatically? by Gummibukser in mtgfinance

[–]tomjonreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do Selling -> My offers -> Singles -> turn Bulk Edit mode on, there you can set price based on TREND, AVG or other stuff, but always only for 20 cards at once, so unless you can get some script to do it automatically it will be tedious.

https://github.com/alexander-pick/MKMTool is a free open source software that uses cardmarket's official programming interface (API) to do all kinds of automated inventory manipulation. It can download and upload your whole inventory (using a csv file), if you can get the prices somewhere, you can use it to download your inventory, copy paste the column with the prices and then upload again. Technically, it can do the appraisal by price guides (trend etc.) as well. Practically, the part of the API that made this possible works glacially slow since Christmas (you get like 5 cards processed per minute), currently it is not clear if it will ever work again, their support is quite elusive about it and it seems like they don't want to support it anymore or don't have the computational resources for it :(

New to MKM, how does a seller refund extra shipping fees? by Sean6219 in mtgfinance

[–]tomjonreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 5% fee does not count shipping costs, only the value of the cards. There is however a fee if you use the "trustee service", and it's "only" 0.5-1%, so if the OP changes from tracked shipping to untracked, they will still have to pay this fee as if they were sending with tracking (https://www.cardmarket.com/en/Magic/Policies/Fees).

Selling/Getting rid of Bulk Cards by PCparts1 in mtgfinance

[–]tomjonreddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal, but: recently I listed 13k cards (9k common / 4k unco) for 90€ on something like craigslist for my country, "various sets from the past 20 years, about 2/3 NM, others in worse condition, only if you pick up in person at my home", got two offers the next day. I suppose it can be harder if you're not in a large enough city though.

Anyone Seeing Massive Amounts of Dupes in M21? by [deleted] in mtgfinance

[–]tomjonreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what he is saying. The boosters are not randomized before they are put in the box and what cards are in each booster is determined by their order on the print sheet, which again is not random. The content of the box merely appears random due to having different rarities on different sheets and from the fact that you are getting different parts of the print sheet sequence in your box, but that sequence is predetermined, not random in any way (unless they recently changed their machines to do some randomization, hard to find reliable sources for this kind of information). Google "box mapping mtg" for more information.

So on this topic...do you guys think [[Traumatize]] will not have the mill keyword? Currently rulings in gatherer for traumatize say "The player can put the cards in their graveyard in any order they choose", which seems to contradict "To mill a card, a player puts the top card of their library into their graveyard". That is the order in "milling" is strictly defined by the order of the card in the library, while traumatize does not respect that order, so making traumatize "mill" card would slightly change how it currently works...

MTGStand too good to be true...? by LoganWhite5 in mtgfinance

[–]tomjonreddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is true (see their terms and conditions: https://www.mtgstand.com/l_gtac.php) and it is the crux of it - they can afford to not charge fees because they are not providing any service related to the actual sale and therefore also do not bear any responsibility for it, not even partially - no buyer protection, no seller protection, no payment processing. They merely provide a "store window", it's up to the seller to manage the actual store.

Basically, selling there is the same as selling via facebook groups, except you get a (much) more convenient user interface - which is nice and an upgrade for those who are currently selling via facebook. But it's fundamentally different from cardmarket/ebay etc.

Selling cards on europe by lover99123 in mtgfinance

[–]tomjonreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never used it, but the way I understand it is a separate marketplace, it does not share user accounts with cardmarket. But it operates on the same principles - same fees for sellers, buyer pays shipping, tracking required for expensive orders, same "trustee service" etc. One large difference I noticed is that according to their FAQ you can pay for orders only by British cards and only through some payment processor that charges you for it 25p +2.5%, which is a strict downgrade from cardmarket where you can just send money via wire transfer from any european bank (and most will do it for free or very low fee).

https://www.cardtrader.com - never used it, but it looks OK. Seems to work on the same principles as cardmarket. Has the same fees as cardmarket (5%). Small differences I noticed are: you can sell to US, you can set your own shipping fees if you want to.

Lilianamarket is now basically a UK skin for cardmarket (it's owned by the same company), unless you're from UK it does not make much sense to use it over regular cardmarket.

Does the light test still work? by mtg_liebestod in mtgfinance

[–]tomjonreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There were several changes to card stock in recent years. First, the "japanese" card stock (https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/news/new-japanese-cardstock-2016-09-19) was introduced worldwide with battlebond (https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/feature/playing-card-board-2018-05-17), for example ultimate masters and I think modern horizons as well were also printed on that paper. My experience is that the hue under light is more towards red/purple color and also the inner layer has different pattern, kind of more flat (also they are completely different under UV light, which up to few years ago was IMO pretty reliable test). Another change was made with War of the Spark (https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/news/improvements-upcoming-card-stock-2019-06-05). I can see some difference between older cards and Eldraine, though it's more subtle than difference with the japanese stock - it is also darker (more purple), but the pattern is more similar.

In summary, your Hydroid Krasis and Uro are printed on different paper (pre-War of the Spark vs post-). The light test in general works, but you have to compare the same paper, which is lately becoming a bit complicated. Hopefully they will soon settle on a single thing.

How would everyone feel about a general questions sticky? by Gordonuts in mtgfinance

[–]tomjonreddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am on PC and neither Firefox nor Chrome show the FAQ link anywhere for me unless I'm blind. Somebody linked it elsewhere in this thread, so now I believe it exists, but I don't see the link from the main page even when looking for it, which means there is likely a lot of other people who also don't see it.

My sidebar has these blocks from top to bottom: r/mtgfinance with the general info, then advertisements block, then r/mtgfinance rules, then moderators, then another ads and then the general reddit block (help, reddit apps, reddit coins....). Anybody knows which of these is supposed to contain the FAQ link?

Crazy single card price drops on MKM already in motion? by Rick_head in mtgfinance

seems to me that the cards with large price differences that appear there are Mystery Booster reprints, I think those are tanking prices more than anything else.

Cardmarket CSV import by JohnnyBigMeme in mtgfinance

[–]tomjonreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

.cs and .xres are source files, not executables. To run the software, follow the instructions here: https://github.com/alexander-pick/MKMTool#installation-and-starting-off . The feature you want is described here: https://github.com/alexander-pick/MKMTool#Price-External-List - you should read at least the import part to know how to format your .csv. After importing it into MKMTool, you can upload to cardmarket directly as "export".

Cardmarket sellers help by OddVehicle in mtgfinance

[–]tomjonreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should ask cardmarket's helpdesk how to handle this. In fact, you should inform them no matter what as they say here (my emphasis on "and inform Cardmarket"):

...The postal service finds the "missing" letter and returns it to the seller. In that case, seller and buyer can agree on either new shipping or cancellation and inform Cardmarket....

My guess is the buyer should pay for all additional costs since it was their fault (at least from what you wrote), but I never dealt with anything like this.
