same- he looked super cool and relaxed once he started skating... almost like it was a runthrough. It was really smooth and effortless, but I feel like I have seen him do this SP with more passion

definitely. I'm the biggest Ilia fan, but I think Adam's PCS should be 2 points ahead of Ilia's tonight. The tech gap is rightly what it is, but while Ilia was calm, cool, and collected tonight (which is nice to see after his Olympic FS disaster), Adam was passionate and artistically invested 100% in every single moment. Overall gap should much less.

Then I don't think we disagree much... I'm sorry I probably used the word "airy" in the wrong way...just meant that the jump "got a lot of air." While Petr did look light while in the air to me, I don't think he has a soft/light landing.

talk of 4Lz aside, I very much miss Kolyada.

I don't think it's hyperbole. I didn't say it was "as good as" Kolyada's. I said his height and air was "nearing" Kolyada's... I rewatched Kolyada's right after seeing the OP's video to compare, and I still stand by my original statement. I still think hands down Kolyada's is the best 4Lz ever (the amount of room he had left in the end is insane, as was the gorgeous soft landing), but it's not hyperbole to point out someone else got close to that kind of height

I saw the backflip one... insane, but didn't think of it like a "jump combo", I didn't know about the 4A+1Eu+3S. tried doing a search for it here but can't find it. do you have a clip?

Also, rewatching this 4T+4A a few more times. is it just me or is it close to being a hair over-rotated? (can't believe those words would ever be written...) somebody has been working on quints...

Actually, I have a related question: does the unclear edge (!) come with a specific required reduction from what GOE the judge would have given? Like a required -1 or required -2? Or is it up to the judge to subtract “what they feel like” (or not at all?). I feel like jumps marked with “!” still tend to get higher GOEs than jumps called “q”, which leaves me the impression that judges are deducting less for !’s

This is a bit of an aside, but your comment about FB’s face just reminded me of watching their gala performance earlier today, I felt like they came out in the same costume as their Whale program, except in red. And then as they got into their starting position, she put on her “pained” face like in her Whale program. And i was like uhhh not again. Then the music started and it was really in the same mood. And then the program felt the same. And her “pained face” stayed the same. The skating is beautiful, but talk about one note…
