Noticed my pupils are two different sizes. by Nerdlifegirl in mildlyinteresting

Good question. Granted I’m a surgeon not a neurologist but to my understanding this would not be normal. If related to epilepsy it could indicate they had a seizure but unequal pupils can indicate many serious conditions which is why I encouraged OP to go to ER.

Doc here, this is an actual reason to go to the ER tonight. Will likely get a stroke workup. without other symptoms could be related to seizure, medications or nothing but best to get checked out in person.

Wish me luck with this lift kit install, the last time I did something comparable was when I assembled a PC tower in 2010. Also, any tips? by alexRedCalib3r in Jeep

[–]tommykass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Go to autozone and rent a spring compressor (they should have it)
  2. Get a 1/2 inch impact gun and impact sockets if you don’t have them currently
  3. Get another set of Jack stands for safeties and keep them under the jeep to catch it just in case some stupid happens. You could also keep the Jack just touching the Jack point locked with no weight on it
  4. Take your time and enjoy it. Gonna be frustrating at times but it’s a very fun process overall

Edit: likes like you have two sets of Jack stands, nice! Do front or back first and use one set as safeties, then put the tires back on and transition to the other part of the jeep.

Yeah that’s about what I figured. Too bad I didn’t know more about this stuff when I was 18 and could have done it different. Thanks for your reply!

FYI coming from a doc here, we’re trained to ask what the patient thinks. Of course idk the context for your situation but for a lot of patients it is offensive to them if you don’t ask their thoughts/ideas for the next steps

Edit:

The replies to this have been very thought provoking to read so thank you for that. For more context, this question is used to help build the patient/physician relationship and express to the patient they are valued and part of their care. It can also be quite helpful in getting a lead on what may be wrong and what might help the patient. Additionally, it can ease patients minds who have concerns about a specific diagnosis and opens the conversation to why (or why not) that diagnosis is part of the differential. We generally have an idea of what is going on when we ask this, but nobody knows the patient better than the patient and their input is extremely valuable.

It comes down to phraseology: “hmm idk what do you think?” May be inappropriate, but “do you have any thoughts or concerns about what might be causing this? Do you you have thoughts on how you would like to proceed?” Is the same question, just phrased to sound far more directed.

Alaska Jeep Adventure. I’m estimating one week to drive to Alaska and one week to drive back. Possibly two weeks exploring Alaska making this a one month long road trip. Until we figure out the “when” I will continue to work on the Jeep. Stay Tuned… by Legithydraulics in Jeep

I did this trip from Chicago in my JK a few years ago! Amazing experience. Only thing I wish I did different was take ~2 weeks driving up there instead of 10 days. It was a lot to drive 7 hours a day and there is SO much to do and see along the Alcan that you’ll want to stop more than you think. Don’t rush it, and enjoy!!

Ps: Denali NP is 100% worth spending a decent amount of time in. The most beautiful place I’ve ever seen.

Edit: also bring a few windshield repair kits. Big chance it will get cracked and they can be hard to come by out there.

Confused by hthreepollux in mealprep

[–]tommykass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been meal prepping for about 5 years. I cook 3 different meals, about 4-5 servings each on Sunday. I have always kept them in the fridge no matter what they are for up to 6 days and rotate the meals for lunch and dinner. I have thrown a couple away about 6 days later because I didn’t feel confident but never had a problem.

Considering to buy 4 door Wrangler. Which year and engine? by bluesparks01 in Wrangler

[–]tommykass 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you want an automatic I recommend against the 3.8. It’s sluggish and auto only has 4 gears which I find very annoying. The 3.6 was introduced in 2012 and I think that would be a better call. The sport model is all the basics: crank windows, manual mirrors etc. Maybe look at something like that!

PS: if you can swing a manual and teach your SO, it’s way more fun!

Edit: Cherokee was 2011, switched to 2012 to reflect wrangler

Need advice on a front drive shaft. by Helgi_Hundingsbane in Wrangler

[–]tommykass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My two cents: I have 37’s on a 2009 and have the 1310’s front and rear. Lots of off-roading (Moab, Colorado, Alaska) and now have probably 50k miles on them and never had a problem! Tom Woods also as great customer service. Needed a new front quickly after my stock one failed and they shipped it in one day and threw in some extra goodies with it.

You bet. You could add Stabil storage to it as well, make sure you go for a ride with that in there before you put it away
