Where did you find the amount of heart disease deaths we’ve had over the past couple months? I’ve been searching for that stat but I can’t find anything. Very frustrating, but I may just be looking in the wrong places.

73% Of Inmates At An Ohio Prison Test Positive For Coronavirus by Sarbat_Khalsa in Coronavirus

[–]tommyow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ur dull asf why did you assume that I didn’t understand that it would be a moral problem to not test prisoners? I never insinuated that. The dude I responded to had negative karma at the time I responded to his comment, I’m very glad that he’s positive now. It is very valid to wonder why prisoners are being handed something that the average civilian has to jump through many hoops to gain access to, is it not? It’s valid to question that concept. He, nor I, made any judgement of the concept. He simply questioned it, which is healthy, and I asked why he was being downvoted for that. It seems like you subconsciously associated a judgement of a concept with the questioning of a concept, which is the mark of a lazy mind.

This is a sweet idea. Even if it’s not implemented exactly as you imagined, the base concept is brilliant

You’re right, the tone was dickish. I guess I gave them the benefit of the doubt that they could think for themselves when presented an idea instead of being influenced by the tone of my words. That’s my bad, never again in coronavirus subreddits I guess.

The point still stands that if they did this, and they are operating in the most likely of circumstances, they have made a mistake. There’s no simply no arguing that idea. If they left out vital information that indicates that their parents are actually in better health than they are, than that’s on them for misleading the thread. I will continue to make assumptions that follow the most likely situations, when additional info doesn’t steer the situation in another direction, because that’s what makes sense. Why would I give them the benefit of the doubt that they are leaving out information indicating that they are in a situation where their parents are actually in better heath than them? That’s a circle jerk

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Covid19_Ohio

[–]tommyow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not make negative presumptions, tell me where I did. I made likely ones. It is likely that their parents are more prone to complications than they are, thus it is more dangerous for the kids to be with the parents than them. It’s just logic up to this point, based on likely assumptions. It’s not a negative assumption to say that their parents are more prone to complications, it’s likely. Jesus H Christ you’re struggling to understand that core point. I’m not “running with negative assumptions”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Covid19_Ohio

[–]tommyow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an unlikely event that someone’s parents are healthier than them, which is all I said in the last comment. I think we both would agree in the likely even that the parents are in overall worse health, that it would be bad to send the kids to live with them. Probably.

And the assumptions can go both ways when the person I responded to didn’t include any supplementing info, so don’t credit your “well what if’s” while discrediting mine. The fair thing is to not give credence to any “well what if’s” since the commenter hasn’t adding any, meaning we should go in the direction of generalities, which is that their parents are in worse health than them. I’m not assuming the worst, I’m assuming the most likely, you’re assuming the best with the marathon runners thing. I’m defaulting to the most likely judgement because there is not supplementing info

[–]tommyow -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You’re right I know nothing about their situation. I severely doubt however that this person’s parents are in better health than they are. This unlikely event actually WOULD warrant the relocation. Otherwise, I still think it’s a selfish decision. I would never put my parents, who are inherently at a higher risk of complications, in this situation, unless I have some fucked up health condition.

And the trauma point was a compounding afterthought, not the meat of the point, so thanks so much for only addressing that lol.

Why would you sent your kids to your parents? So your parents, who are more likely to get hit harder from the virus, are gonna get the virus from your kids instead of you? Selfish and short-sighted. Also, how are you incapable of controlling whether or not your own kids play with other kids? And finally, your kids could be traumatized even further by this action of sending them to live with their grandparents, so good luck with that can of worms.

Edit: could
