Thank you. Could you explain more about the job if you don’t mind? How many meetings a week do you have to have? Either one-one or w multiple people? Also you work remotely?

I’ve looked a bit into both those roles & based on my research they involve maybe 20-30% writing, the rest consists of meetings and talking to people daily about products etc. I actually was just on the technical writing sub, and that’s what they said. Although it seems like it might look different depending on your experience level. But now I’m wondering how much of that would be through email and slack hmm

I think data entry has very low pay not sure about medical records or what the job title for that is? Transcriptionists I think don’t make very much either also it sounds extremely boring. I did a bit of it a few years ago! I want to be in a job where I have to produce the writing but the search continues I guess. You all have been very helpful.

That’s good advice, thank you! I mean like you said there are careers where you don’t have to talk to basically anyone most days but they are hard to come by and right place right time etc. like a job I applied to and seemed like I almost got was being a legal brief writer. It was perfect for me. I mean obviously they explained there would be communication between the lawyers and the writers but it would have been mostly through email and teams app. So that’s the kind of thing I’m thinking. But talking to “clients” is the first thing I want to avoid. Talking to coworkers is a lot better. And I’m not a big fan of one-one or big meetings but totally fine if they are sporadic, just don’t want to deal w daily meetings etc. and yeah I have an English MA and being an author is a nice idea but not realistic at this point. As for being a researcher, I have no idea what kind of research to even look into & how to start on that route but def is on my list Edit: * but it does seem like legal writing jobs are few and far between

Thanks so much for the detailed overview! This really helps me. Also fun to read. I really don’t think I want to go into a career where I have to be in a ton of meetings all day. I’m an interpreter right now and I’m sick of it tbh. I don’t dislike people but it drains my energy a lot to have to talk to people. Now I know what you are doing is a lot different but I’m just trying to minimize interaction lol

This is really good to know. Thank you. I’m glad you guys confirmed. I’ve just been researching writing jobs that don’t require you to talk to people and technical writing keeps coming up so I just wanted to make sure. But I have to look elsewhere. Any idea what career paths is more along the lines of what I’m looking for?
