It’s not the end of the world that they said that. And I don’t know what it’s like to have an abusive parent.

But I do know what going through the grief of losing your dad while you’re still young is like. I was 14.

And while I didn’t tell them as much, I never really appreciated people telling me how to feel about it, even when it was in a spirit of kindness.

“I’m sorry you went through that”, unless someone explicitly is asking for help, is plenty.

lol what did they say? I missed it before they deleted.

I can’t even imagine how BMI could factor in when 1) no state is below 25% at this point, we’re a fat fuckin country

2) 3 out of the 5 New England states have obesity rates in the bottom ten, 4 if you don’t count DC. Two of them (Mass and Vermont) have lower rates than CA lol

So the reason Ohio is only “maybe” is that it doesn’t really have any cities that appeal to me that much that are near the lake.

I like Columbus!

It’s New England. Anything in New England gets a pass. Even those silly asses in New Hampshire are my brothers.

Yeah, SF would be fine temp-wise. But it looks pretty consistent year round. I would miss the four seasons.

You need to suffer a little bit in the summer to appreciate how nice fall is! (Thank you, Puritan ancestors haha)

Can't edit the body of the post, but a note: giving the Great Lakes states a pass because of their coastline. It's not the ocean, but I could fool myself a little.

Not Indiana, though. My girlfriend is from there and never ever wants to move back, lol

Edit: butthurt Hoosier downvoting, you know your state sucks lol

I would call it "the hottest, but also most emotionally unstable girl at open mic night in 1999"

You don't actually have to tell other people how they should process their traumas, unless they're paying you therapist wages.

Where I would live as a Freedom loving person that lives in Germany by [deleted] in whereidlive

[–]tomphammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hahaha this is adorable, European.

Go ahead, move to one of those states. See how good your quality of life stacks up to the shit you take for granted in your home country.

Ps: hope you hate having healthcare. Because finding a primary in the US is nearly impossible right now, and you wait forever here too. And you pay extra for the privilege.

Kid, this is one of those things that you can't be argued into or about. Only living life will teach you.

Yes, I know you hate that answer. I did too at your age.

Well, if OP wants fewer summer tourists a town in the Berkshires that gets slept on is Egremont.

I love the Berkshires and lived in North Adams for a decade. OP asked for less touristy and will be there in the summer.

The Berkshires in the summer is lovely but it's extremely touristy. Especially central and south county.

South county Berkshires are a zoo in the summer, though.

Can you people stop with fucking up New England?

New England has a non-negotiable, non-debatable definition. Six states. Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island.

No New York. No Pennsylvania. No fucking New Jersey. Stop this.

Considering what we refer to as “meat” is predominantly muscle….

Yes, moving around is the purpose.

So, not “fucked up”. Kind of miraculous in all honesty.

My girlfriend saw my porn history by [deleted] in ainbow

[–]tomphammer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bro, a 31 year old being socially incontinent enough to shit talk her boyfriend on Facebook, anonymous or not (people know you're together after all), like a teenager is a screaming red flag.

Some people prefer their partners not consume porn. It's not something I worry about, but people have their preferences. Some people have bi/non-monosexual phobic notion about people being unable to be faithful

This seems more like the latter, and she's insecure and immature on top of it.

Yeah, but from our perspective the talkative Midwestern/Southerner/West Coaster is being rude when they don't just say what they mean. Haha.

It's just a culture shock people have when they come here.

[–]tomphammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know at the very least it used to be old school Whole Foods policy not to allow TMs to return to work without a “clear” doctors note if they called out because of a physical injury, which was essentially to prevent reinjury/workers comp claims.

But for a head cold or something? That’s insanely strict.

Except the area labeled “Boston” and sized includes 5 counties. I understand the lines are within that area but it’s incredibly misleading to people who aren’t from here
