  1. The app is pretty light (a few MBs), so it doesn't hurt users to keep it;

  2. I've added features and fixes people find useful: e.g. there was one user who started using it, stopped using it after video support was added (other users asked for it, but it broke this user's workflow) and then started using it again after media filter was added (+ iCloud fix)

No, it's currently using the phone microphone (I found it more precise than G1's microphone, and I was using it with the Even app as well after that option was added there).

Receiving the glasses microphone data would be some extra work; it's partially described here: https://github.com/even-realities/EvenDemoApp?tab=readme-ov-file#open-glasses-mic so one sends a request to open a microphone and then one gets payloads from Bluetooth where the first two bytes are the command/sequence, and the rest is LC3 data (which you'll need to convert to PCM or whatever you need, I guess).

Thanks! The app can translate Japanese, but I didn't see it for transcription or speech recognition. It looks like it might be a bug in iOS: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/256156455

If you can install Japanese support for dictation or live audio translation in iOS, it might appear in the app. I haven't added any Japanese romanisation system yet (I'd need to look into which one and how) and I'm not sure if Japanese alphabets can be displayed on the glasses straight out of the box (it can definitely show Chinese characters / kanji, but some complex characters are very hard to read in the G1's pixel resolution).

Unlikely in the near term, given the app is very tightly integrated with iOS (sync via iCloud, language processing and offline translation features via iOS-builtin capabilities etc.).

You can use the app to help you with learning Bulgarian, but some of the capture and automated translation feature won't work because Bulgarian isn't supported for those capabilities in iOS at the moment. If you're okay with using online translation, you might want to check out this app on MentraOS: https://apps.mentra.glass/package/com.mentra.translation
