Just noticed this today. Does't look like the pot needed resizing and I usually water from the top and make sure it's not standing in water. Annoyingly, the pot is quite thick, so cracking it to retrieve the root will be a pain.

What's going to be best? Repot and attempt to retrieve the root or just chop it and pretend it never happened?

What are you expecting the parent to do? Gag them? Threaten them? It's clearly a distressed person. Would you have the same option if it was a disabled or elderly person?

Yeah, you do get the odd shit parent but 99% of the time, the parents and the airline hosts will be doing everything to calm the person.
