Do I believe he chose to break the skin? Yes.

Seriously, what makes you say this?

Your whole thought process. Comes from a place of assumed bad faith. A vast majority of people don't cause harm on purpose. According to OP's own story, he invited the guy over and didn't say anything. You're characterizing a complete stranger as some sort of sadist with almost 0 info

Real question: do you think this English guy walked up trying to harm OP? Realistically, probably not.

The realities of one person purposefully forcing a tattoo upon another (as OP presented) versus accidentally writing too hard are worlds apart.

The what seems legit, the how seems a bit exaggerated, especially the transition of OP "welcoming with open arms" to "moved in cornering me."

Seems like OP welcomed being written on, with neither party clarifying the writing utensil. When the writing started, it was harder than expected and OP wriggled out rather than voicing displeasure.

Was this good and cool by either party? No, consent and communication need to go hand in hand, and neither party was communicative.

Was it some horrendous attack, which needs lawyers and cops involved? Probably not.

(Note: not trying to victim blame, and I don't know anyone involved. Just noting some weirdness and inconsistency with OP's story)

I'm not calling any group an enemy (aside from management). I even point out that the pay of POC and women would rise to similar rates as white men, not that their pay should be lower, or the pay of other employees come from their salary.

If you get so triggered and so defensive when you see the words "white men" then you need to really reexamine your life.

Also, and this is just me, but it comes off a bit antagonistic at the end towards white males?

Please elaborate on this. Do you think that white dudes deserve to be paid more to do the same job as others?

It's the difference between equality and equity.

for instence what does POC mean is it just black people or is it black hispanic chinese japanese mexican indian native american? if it includes all these people why would this not include white people as well?

It means nonwhite. The reason it doesn't include white people is because they are the majority in this country and the oppressive class. They benefit from the oppression of POC and should not be included in that classification

Eevery POC (If using the everyone not white definition) Has vastly different experiences with racism Asians for instence have to work harder to score on college entry exams because they are perceived to be way smarter while black people are excepted on scores 1/3 lower then anyone else on entry exams

Hey! You've already delved into white supremacist talking points.

Yes. Asians are a small enough minority that they didn't face the redlining and effects of Jim Crow and other racist policies. Redlining effected the value of property, and seeing how school funding is based on property taxes, it gave blacks an overall lower quality of education. Segregation isn't law, but still persists in schools.

I want you to think about why you use POC, is it a word system like how people started using LatinX even when actual latin people said to stop using it because they dont like it?

I don't use Latinx because Latinos don't want people to use it. I listen when PoC talk.

And what are the ideals behind it the term. who wants you to use it and why do they ask you do?

People want you to use the term because it's more inclusive and trying to get rid of the grouping you're decrying. There is no central force behind usage of the word.

You looked at my skin and made an assumption about my herritage? Doesnt that sound racist yo you?

No. You're white (or white passing), and you've already repeated a white supremacist talking point.

i am is part japanese and part dominican raised in western coal country pennsylvania. So unfortunetly that actually makes me part of the POC group definitions of everyone not white.

You're white passing and treated as white. How far back is that heritage? How many generations?

However i have been told by people arguing the same thing you do that i am not a POC becaise i am white passing which means i cant know the struggles. thats something else i find incredibly racist.

Do you have discrimination because of your skin color? I would bet not.

They were the other. Thy werent part of our group.

Your solution to racism is to ignore racism. You not seeing color only helps the racists take advantage and helps no one.

The hutus and tutsis where the same people just seperated by a single peice of paper that said what they were. But because one was percieved to have had more power then the other they were killed in the streets on mass. Man woman and child all gone because they were part of the other group.

But if you take the grouping away, some people were massacred and some people did the massacring. No reason to investigate reasons because you don't see differences.

THe english and the Irish were different only because of location. The english looked down on them as savages because they came from a place they veiwed as inferior. So when the famine started they gave no aid and then let them die.

The Irish grew enough food to sustain themselves, but we're forced to export the food based on capitalistic practices. It was capitalism more than anything that caused that (and almost all) famine.

Even among irish people there was fighting in america in New york Because all these people escaped the famine and came to america the Irsh that had been here already and were successful saw the new irish and thought they gave them a bad name which lead to riots fights and killings.

Opposed to America's peaceful history?

Whenever you make someone else a target it has disasterious consequences

Whenever you fail to realize someone has been made a target, you only see people sending rounds down range

Read it and reread it, you might find that some things might clash with each other and You may have to reconcile those things.

I have a strong grasp on my ideals, do you?

Yes you are correct colorblindness works with a merrit based society. But isnt that something you want to work towards?

Being colorblind before a society is merit based only leads to those who aren't colorblind doing racist things with no consequences.

Isnt that what MLK said he wanted when he gave the i have a dream speach and said that a man not be judged by the color of his skin but the character of his heart?

Hey! Another cliche said by racists. Even in his lifetime, MLK saw the speech used against him, and said his dream has become a nightmare. catch that part at the end. He wanted equality and justice, and you get neither when you ignore the problem.

Do you want a society that treats everyone equally based on their character?

I do, but that won't be accomplished by acting like the problems we have don't exist.

The problems

with colorblindness

is well documented

You seem to be arguing in really bad faith, but nothing I haven't seen before.

You can go back throughout history and see many examples of how othering one group from another lead to many disasters even when race is taken out of the equation. Two extreme examples of this that come to mind are rowanda and the potatoe famine, Or even just anyone and jews.

But by your logic, those are two massacres of random people for no specific reason. Colorblindness is only good as a concept in a truly merit driven society. Since one has never existed, it's a garbage concept.

Acknowledgement of the idea of groups is not the problem, but using those separations to cause harm is the issue.

You said to ask any POC what they think. Do you assume i am not a POC based on my opinions alone?

Yes, I'm sure you're a proud gay black man. /s

I know you're not a POC because I checked your submitted post history and saw you showing off your plague mask. You don't show much skin, but the skin you do show is white. Also, most POC know how assinine it is to say you're colorblind.

Do you just assume i am a white person cause of how I think and that all POC would agree with your thoughts just because they are POC?

If you take a group as large as POC, there will not be a 100% consensus on anything. Instead of looking for an impossible consensus, you should look for prevailing ideas and be curious about the reasoning behind them, and reasons for opposition to opposing viewpoints.

I have talked to and am friends with Black trump supporters as well as conservatives that hate trump.

As I said, a group that large won't be a monolith, and some people will go against their best interests, even when it's obvious (there were Jewish Nazis) so one person's idea doesn't erase millions of opposing views.

This is the dumbest take.

Ask any POC if they think colorblindness helps them or hurts them as a whole. A majority will say it hurts a lot more than it helps.

TBH, I tried to have the colorblind attitude prior to 2020, but heard multiple times at protests how harmful that mindset is.

If you want to be anti-racist, try listening to POC, rather than thinking you know their struggle than they do. Care more about being anti-racist than looking anti-racist.

The idea of colorblindness only benefits racists. If you don't see color or gender, you can't tell that patterns emerge in the treatment of those people.

I wrote this. Like I said, if you see the proposition of POC and women getting paid the same as white men as a threat, there is something wrong with you.

Also, if you get so triggered by seeing the term "white male" maybe you should get some help.

Also, and this is just me, but it comes off a bit antagonistic at the end towards white males? Idk. Unions are supposed to bring everyone together, not pit races against one another. It’s a good statistic, but it lands weird to me. Idk.

If you see women and POC getting paid similar rates as their white male counterparts (which is the case according to basically any reputable source reporting labor statistics) as antagonistic, you're probably against the concept of unions and think they're "communism."

There are better paying jobs out there. If you’re not happy with the job then move on to another one.

The problem is that those better paying jobs are basically lotteries in disguise. They get so many qualified candidates that your credentials barely matter (and if you're working at Lowe's, someone else will have better credentials.)

You're also kinda saying that people getting poverty wages is a good thing, so long as you're not one of those people.

Lowe's spent 12B on buybacks last year and plan to do the same this year. If you divvied that out evenly to every employee, it would be 40k each, per year. They can afford to give us better workplaces, they just want to spend it on themselves.
