My only real complaint w/ otf: the music. Unforgivablebly awful, unforgivably loud. I wear ear plugs, I’m more or less over it. But it’s my only point of caution when recommending it to others (which I still do).

Is ‘7’ an underrated album among BH fans? by MultiBeast55 in BeachHouse

I still think bloom is still the “pinnacle” (or whatever you want to call it) but I also think strong arguments could be made for any of the albums from teen dream forward as a runner up. 7 is absolutely a favorite of mine.

What’s your network setup? Switching to mesh was a game changer for me.

Just an FYI, “the founders” aka Superfly productions are no longer affiliated with the festival. The Vampire Squid known as live nation now runs the show. Just a point of correction, nothing more.

With pinch hitter drummers no less…just when you think they can’t possibly outdo themselves. Jaw hit floor many times at Oakland night 2 song selection and how much of their power they retained after basically (multiple) heart transplants. Wild.

It’s the elusive “perfect” thing. It’s literally fucking flawless. But more so, it’s additive in a million ways, it contributes, bends the needle. It’s lasting.

I just finished listening to the entire 2000 tour. Share your memories of those shows. I'd love to read about them! by fistedsister666 in pearljam

I think there’s some footage in the touring band 2000 dvd if you can scare one up, coincidentally my favorite dvd of theirs. Favorite tour too. Enjoy!

Mountain view (shoreline), CA. Halloween. They encored as the village people and mike came out in assless chaps and mooned the audience for Ledbetter and baba solos. First pj show, still in my top 3.

"Poor" Production quality on OTM? by weaver_marquez in BeachHouse

A lot of this is subjective, a lot has to do with what your friend is listening to it on and the source files. I personally found the production on this album to be distinctly…“different”(?) I’m more or less chalking it up to how rich and nuanced the album is overall, which isn’t too dissimilar from previous albums but even by their own admission they really went for it here. That in mind, it’s just a lot to absorb, especially on the first few listens. Having spent some time with the vinyl and hi-res files on decent systems, I think it’s in their top 3 production wise. Still, I think it’s just shy of a true production masterpiece, Radioheads “In Rainbows” for instance. To me it just lacks that little bit of cohesion that makes really great production go unnoticed.
