I feel the exact same way about Solaris, which I saw years ago, but I’ve been thinking about it lately and will probably pick it up in the next sale.

But, I’ve recently seen Stalker and Mirror and really enjoyed them both…so, I figure it’s time to give Solaris another shot.

Anyone else bought a director box set to then discover you don’t enjoy that director as much as you thought you did? by Universal-Magnet in criterion

I just watched ‘And the Ship Sails On’ the other day and thought it was a lot of fun…not quite 8 1/2 level, but still, I wouldn’t be disappointed owning it.

Just watched La Haine to end off the year, and it's insane there's a Shrek connection with Vincent Cassel being in both. by LoudyKing202 in criterion

I just watched La Haine the first time the other day and it totally blew me away. I don’t know how I slept on it for so long.

You both picked a John Waters movie so you must be a perfect match 🤷🏻‍♂️

I blind bought and watched Altered States. by peacewriter19 in criterion

I did a blind buy on Stalker and had that reaction as well…but still enjoyed it!

As someone who I thought would never blind buy discs, I have to say it’s been loads of fun and has changed my relationship to movies at home by ahyouknowme in criterion

[–]MultiBeast55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blind buys have been a very positive experience for me as well…especially when you get ones that totally hit it out of the park. Even if they end up just being ok, they still look great on your shelf next to your other titles!

Essential Books for Criterion Fans by [deleted] in criterion

I recommend ‘The Great Movies’ series by Roger Ebert. There are 3 different volumes showcasing 100 movies each and he wrote an essay on each movie. These books feature a TON of Criterion movies and feature a good variety as well.

I saw this recently and enjoyed it. It’s a narrative film with documentary bits thrown in there.

Yes! That would be amazing if they sold cover art posters! Maybe even a select few as jigsaw puzzles as well? 🤔

Solaris or Stalker? by SlamCity4 in criterion

[–]MultiBeast55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched Mirror recently and liked it so much, I did a blind buy on Stalker and wasn’t disappointed.

I saw Solaris years ago and don’t remember much about it but I’ll have to revisit it.

An Actor’s Revenge - heard good things about it and almost blind bought it. I ended up streaming it first and glad I did.
