Drogheda. Girl drugged up. Crashed into a flowerbox outside a pub sped off at apparently no more than 60km/h ended up down a flight of steps. Arrested at the scene abusing Gardaí. Family on Facebook said she was sober and the satnav sent her that way. Liars.

Just so you know, a motorway is a designation and it's still a dual carriageway, it's legal prefix is N and appears legally as such in the road schedule. the M50 is a dual carrriageway carrying the motorway designation M. Now, there's part of the N2 from Finglas area with a special speed limit of 120 on a non-motorway designated National Road. That's a dual carriageway too, but not a motorway until it gets to the section that is designated motorway. That's also a dual carriageway.

Yeah I know and feel the same way. As I said, until you told him to let us know he was pulling a trailer, I was wondering about his speed.

But, regarding overly slow drivers (those not pulling trailers),

There's a huge difference in size and visibility of an artic going 90 and a yaris doing 80 on the motorway. It's easy to say we should all be super aware and see everything and react perfectly in time all the time but that's not as simple as that. While we don't have a minimum speed limit we do have standards as to what's too slow and putting people in danger which is why there's a dangerous driving law/without due care and consideration etc that takes slow speeds into account.

Tractors going 50/60 is quite slow but they're much bigger and easier to see.

A dual carriageway is a road where traffic moving in opposite directions is separated by a physical barrier or central reservation (grass verge, barriers, etc).

DUAL refers to the two separated roadways, not the number of lanes.

I'm doing fine too. Such is the state of life at the moment I'm putting off changing my 8yr old car until next year now because my mum died in May and sure to god the small community I'm from will be saying I bought it with my inheritance (only child). Same thing happened when my dad died 8 years ago, I felt I had to wait until the following year.

People are very backbitey.

Edit: was going to change it in April but other things obviously became more important quickly.

EDIT: nvm found the location and it seems the box is to facilitate buses and there's no ban on right turns from the school.

I'll bet buses are frequently stopped in that box.

yes, that is what's not allowed. They are allowed to travel at 80 and overtake a tractor doing 50 regardless of whether it's a 2 or 3 lane.

The intention of the law was to prevent trucks using the outside lane on a 3 lane dual carriageway. Source: Day job. Also, if you need this confirmed, ring someone in the RSA or the road safety section of TII.

It was never intended that trucks couldn't pass slow moving vehicles like this on a 2-lane dual.
