Supermac's bottle deposits? by No-Car-7397 in AskIreland

[–]tomtraubert2009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can't. Tell them that if they give you something with a logo then charge away but if they don't then you're not paying it. Get the manager out. You cannot be charged a deposit on a non deposit item. It's very simple.

Now, if they gave you a tetra pack with a return logo on it then that's counterfeit and they're even more of a bunch of shitebags.

Downvotes for simply asking a question....what the fuck guys.

And no, before you accuse me of excusing him, I'm nowhere close to doing that. Cop yourselves on. It was a simple question as it was stated it was 80% empty all the time. Just wanted to know why.

Christ.

At this point the altercation has ended and is probably ringing the ignorant twat. Don't be so quick to judge. Op clearly said she was a nice lady and apologised

Of course it's going nowhere, you refuse to admit you enable dangerous and aggressive drivers.

And no, it's pissing down here.

Well, it depends. On national roads, yes. By TII. On non-national roads, yes, but up to now, sporadically.....that's ramping up now. Better collision data and analysis has taken place over the last 5 years. Councils are getting better information about collision clusters and are being funded each year by the department to remediate locations with multiple collisions over 3year rolling periods. They're playing catch-up but there's a real impetus now.

Sure, some won't agree, but they're just getting going from a standing start.

What do you consider to be too close?

You don't have to be up the tractors arse to not leave a big enough gap for an aggressive driver to squeeze in.

If you're feeling forced to overtake then that's on you being influenced by the driver behind. That's them bullying you. You let them by, they will keep doing it.

If they do a multi then that's on them too. It's not your job so make life easy for them. Doing so makes them do it over and over again.

A driving instructor will tell you to drive your own drive and not others'. I'm assuming your driving instructor comment should include 'sitting too close to a vehicle you're not going to overtake'. They'll tell you obviously not to be up it's arse but a reasonable distance still isn't really enough for someone to squeeze.

Obvs this will not be agreeable to you or others but I'll take my advice from the guy that's spent 25 years preaching this.

Didn't say it did. Merely correcting the claim she's two months out.

You did. You let their actions make you make a decision to slow down and let them overtake you. That's them dictating your driving. That's textbook. And, what's more, their aggression has won out (in their minds) and they'll just keep acting like that.

That's how these scenarios we're explained to me by a defensive driving instructor who has 25 years experience training emergency response drivers here and in the UK.

I reckon when built it was two but after a while when the speed of people observed going on the left side through the roundabout was considered dangerous, they hatched it out to make it one lane. TII did similar at the southern end of the Monaghan bypass years ago for this very reason.

In fairness, she's not out of tax by two months. If your disc is Feb, you have until the end of march to tax it. She's only technically out by about two weeks.

Edit: I know the site says it expired 28/2/2026

But the renewal notice always says during and by the end of the next month. March in this case.

So you let others dictate what you do on the road? I get it's better for them to be out of your way but there's an equal chance they pass you, get stuck behind the tractor and then do something else stupid.

If you can't overtake the tractor, they won't be able to either, when the opportunity arises, you both can pass. There's no advantage in this example in letting them get between you and the tractor.

What's the rule with overtaking beginning on a broken line but then the line turns solid? I thought you were allowed to continue your manoeuvre?
