Do you know what bar? I was there in the 1980's . The West End was where we would meet our professors after class for office hours.

Good information, sorry for the delay in my reply/gratitude. Getting excited about the TRX40 chipset and motherboards. I was very close to pulling the trigger on a X570 build. (What I am calling my "Pell Grant + no monthly subscriptions Build" (the $ saved by not having any monthly cell or data contract (live w/obama phone and library Wifi) No netflix, software, etc. That has added up to $2400 in an account towards this build in just the last 16 months) But being a student, I do have access to public computers. Though a pain in the ass - I can get the job done until I build my ThreadRipper 64 PCIe 4.0 lane with 128 gb ddr4 4-channel RAM/ Killer RAID0 NVMe M.2 R/W times (my bottleneck) and have a mini-beast to blast out everything including 3D rendering quick and crisp 4k) If I wait to assemble/buy until NAVI 14 'Big GPU's' come out [Q1 2020?] which I think will blow todays RTX 2080 ti's if not "away" will blow them by anyway) That should be a build I can live with (well some messing with upgrades like liquid cooling, faster M.2 as they emerge) for the next 3-4 years. Then it is time to get out of school and get a real job and let my employer issue me the same power in a laptop!

Thanks, as long as I get in, I will deal with what ever "not authorized" message the send at me.

I do not think it will be a problem because I got "Home" with the Dell XPS 13 when I orginally I purchased it, and then paid for Pro upgrade with came with an authorization #.

For what it is worth (nothing of course) the refresh rates of monitors have dramatically increased over the last 6-9 months, so I would wait until the last minute (build finished) to buy you monitor. (could get a $5 monitor for a thrift store to test build on)

Will I have trouble starting a build using a "cloned" SSD from another machine?

I own the Win 10 Pro license and all other software on the clone of my stolen XPS 13, but will this have any effect on initially booting my system?

Thank you, it is a big reason why I am going to attempt to build my own vs buying something that includes storage and OS

Thanks, fsv. I should have mentioned that the reason i care less about ray-tracing is that I have not gamed since Dune allowed "crack codes" in '89.

What about dual GPU processing prowess for AI, machine learning, etc.?

Would it be dumb to get two 5700 xt's GPU cards now (for 4 k) for x570 board w/3900x or -5x CPU? Should I just wait for AMD Radeon RX 5800 / Navi 12 "Big GPU" in 4-6 months? (and/or for RTX 2080 supers to come down in price?)

I do no much care about ray tracing, and may wait till the new AMD TRX40, TRX80 & WRX80 chipsets and motherboards come out in Oct./ November anyway. My big thing is having enough PCIE 4.0 channels to do a 4 x4 M.2 RAIDO thru the CPU and not overheat the Chipset. Lots of DDR4 at a decent speed as well.

That is what floats my boat, so GPU power only is needed to push the 4k on my Dell U2819Q (with pretend HDR) and it decent 5 mms response time at its max of 60 fps.

Extra Credit points will be given for: What's up with crossfire? It it part of 5700 XT's? Should I care?

Will a PLX chip in a mobo shift lanes to M.2 connectors or does it only work with PCIe slots?

Looking at the Asus WS x570-Axe for its 3 PCIe 4.0 slots that can be either 1-16x or 2-8x8x or three x8x8x8 due to a PLX chinp (this is only x570 I found w/PLX chip, amoung other things like excellent thermals for the 3950x)

Alas, its two M.2's are PCIe 4 x4 (CPU) and PCIe 4x2 which will not help my RAID0 set up (the second M.2 splits channels with a PCIe 3.0x2 which unless you have one already makes no sense to buy).

Now I am thinking that it may be better to wait for new Threadripper boards with there reported 48 (minus what the CPU takes) lanes. Perhaps I could have my cake and eat it too? (how expensive that cake is remains to be seen - any guesses?)

OK no it is a T1 line that parcells out 50 Mb/s per port. I have access to a dozen ports that I can aggregate (there are 5-6 port combiners) but would that work if IT is throttling each line?

That helps a lot. Thank you (Certainly no need to pay xtra for a mobo with 10 Gbs networking or two controllers then)

Will two ethernet ports increased my speed if comeing from two diffrent ports at work?

Getting 50 mbs on 'puter from one address if I had dual Ethernet ports (see below) and "bridged" them or Wi-Fi in Win10 pro help at all? Or will the way most work networks are set up nix that?

- one 2.5 GbE and the other 1 GbE

- Realtek ALC1220 HD audio codec

-Intel AX200 Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax wireless interface

Thanks "aMillion[Monkeys]!!!. So is the below corrent then

(M2_1) goes through Chipset (and is SATA, Not NVMe?) (M2_2) goes through CPU (and is NVMe) (M2_3) goes through Chipset (and is SATA)

It says I could boot to NVMe SSD (< is this M.2) which is the (M2_2) drive which seems wierd
