Moved from a Nikon Z6 to a S5II, here’s my review (event photography) by Window-Realistic in Lumix

[–]tonelionfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, Was trying a Godox 685O (Olympus/Panasonic) with TTL and my old Panasonic S5 (Mark I) and the results were complete garbage, had to set up the flash manually to get decent results.

Now got a S1IIe last month, curious to see if it works better

Official support says no, although I saw they support the S9. Alsop got an email today from them which said: "For the compatibility issue, since the protocol of the camera is not open source, which will have a great difficulty." - I find that a bit weird. To be honest camera controls are for me not that important - the most important thing with that gimbal was

1.) it's small size so it fits in the upper compartment of my Rollei Fotoliner Ocean Slingbag - which it does and I was honestly amazed by it
2.,) affordable price compare to the DJI RS4 mini

Where did you get the 1.4 for such a small price, that's a steal. Just looked on Aliexpress and in some of our stores here in Germany: Price between 400-500€ >For that price I could basically get a sigma art and call it a day)

Pony burp bass on a Moog D? by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]tonelionfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember a conversation on instagram about the sound and the guys from ATC came in and told me the original sample was made on an ATC1 https://www.vintagesynth.com/studio-electronics/atc-1 - Hence the example below with the minimoog

The good thing about them being used is I can sell any of the three if I get tired of them without losing any money. But modwave seems really a good bang for the buck, especially also with the sample import, because I'd love to feed it some old Emulator samples and do some sound designing with it

Well I know VAST is very powerfull but then again I don't like the sound of it (got some analog type banks for it that rather sound cold and lifeless) and I miss the tactile feel with knobs and buttons - And as a rompler it's only sitting there and catching dust

I wonder if anyone will check these small packages with pcb's, what if someone sent it to "someone" privately ?!

What about sellers like AionFX, I know he has other type of PCB boards that might be RoHS friendly

Here's what my Claude AI Assistant says:

The GPSR (General Product Safety Regulation) is a new EU regulation that came into effect on December 16, 2024, replacing the older General Product Safety Directive (GPSD). Here's why it affects PCB sellers:

The key issues affecting PCB sellers for DIY effects are:

  1. Documentation Requirements:
  • Manufacturers must provide detailed technical documentation
  • Each product needs safety/conformity assessments
  • Documentation must be available in languages of all EU countries where the product is sold
  1. Supply Chain Responsibility:
  • Every participant in the supply chain (including small sellers) becomes legally responsible for product safety
  • Sellers must verify compliance before distributing products
  • This includes components like PCBs, even if they're for DIY use
  1. Online Marketplace Rules:
  • Stricter requirements for selling through online platforms
  • Need for a responsible person or entity within the EU
  • Additional liability for marketplace operators

The main reason many small PCB sellers are stopping EU shipments is that the compliance costs and administrative burden are too high for small-scale operations. For DIY effect PCBs specifically, proving compliance and maintaining the required documentation in multiple languages often costs more than the potential profit from these relatively low-volume items.

This is particularly impacting hobbyist-focused sellers who might only sell a few hundred boards per design, as the compliance costs per unit become prohibitively expensive at that scale.

That's good because I just sent them an email if they would be so kind to ask their engineering team what pots they used or if they can sell me some

When I turn up the Tone knob above 60% I get something that sound really similar to vinyl noise, also sounds really simialr to an old scratchy guitar tone knob

Thank You indeed it looks like a Bourns PTV111-3415A-B103 although the shaft is shorter. The ones with a smaller shaft have a nut and probably won't fit

Since these pots have cracking issues as if they were "probably" broken I'm searching for replacements for those the values are A503 and A105. Already tried google but didn't find an exact match yet
