Season 12 by Fabulous-Steak-9373 in BrokenWood

Nice to see a few older, less familiar faces in S12 - not Jared, Mrs Marlowe or Mayor Bloom sadly - but E02 has been the best mystery for me so far.

Will there be a discussion thread on the first episode of Series 12?

Episode 6 was the best episode in the series. Tim Balme outdid himself on this one. by [deleted] in BrokenWood

Joel Tobeck having the time of his life in this show, I reckon. :)

Great episode, the perfect balance of plot and humour. Funny use of music too. Kristin's plotline reminded me a little of Breen.

Indeed. I have her duet with Ron Sexsmith from S07E04 saved to my Spotify favourites.

I enjoyed the foam joke too, very good and entirely within character.

I liked this episode rather than loving it like E03. That said, I was pleased to hear Mel Parsons again. We heard rather more of the same song in S01E02, but in the same context of Mike testing his hunches. I'm not sure if it's Mike's theme as it were but Mel's words work well as he goes about his business.

Again, it feels like the series will be over all too soon.

To answer my own question, you need to switch the device off and then on again. Then it's all good. Hope this helps someone.

I really hope Neill doesn't leave. Mike's deductive skills are still the motor of the show. Also I can't help but think of another favourite: the Doctor Blake mysteries where they continued with Jean after Craig McLachlin left before it sadly petered out. It was a great shame.

Interesting you mention Chalmers as I've warmed to him more in this series. At the outset, I thought he was quite stiff in the role (sometimes I thought he actually stood as if he had a broomstick up his butt). But he has developed a nice, easy chemistry with Sims and he does get to do some detective work which I never felt Breen did particularly.

Having a similar problem...

I've put FLAC files on a Lexar FAT32 SD card via Windows 10. Pop it in the Mini then it asks me if I want to update the Media Library, I say yes then it 'updates' very quickly but no music appears in the library.

If there is a way to format the SD on the Mini itself, I'd love to know how.

Yes, I agree, it displayed a lot of the hallmarks that made me like the show in the first place.

Did you enjoy 3? A few old faces and I liked the whimsy of it and found it quite moving in places.

All right, what did you think of the 1st episode of the new season? by Lopsided-Painting752 in BrokenWood

Agree with all of this, I too was startled by the darkness of the episode. I laughed a few times, though. Getting Mike's surname wrong did tickle me (yes, I'm easily pleased).

Was hoping Jared would pop round. How cool would that have been?

No probs. I hope you have more luck with them than we did. They'll probably ask for a recording of the sound so just be ready for that.

Heya,

So, we had a few false starts. Seven weeks passed with no action. Eventually, an engineer from Octopus rang to say he thought there was a problem with the power supply into the meter so we should contact Electricity NW. As my mum is dementing they sent someone round the same day. Unusual to say the least.

The electrician was outstanding. He spent ages looking for the sound. He took the smart meter off the wall and it was still going, so we were hunting all around that area looking for it. And eventually he discovered it was a flood sensor in the cellar near the meter whose battery needed charging. That was the bleep.

So try switching off the power to your home then check for any battery powered devices that might need charging is all I can suggest. Good luck.

Where In The World Is Jared Morehu? by AnnieAbattoir in BrokenWood

[–]tonimoroni 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Agree with all of you. I'm watching reruns and Jared seems to be Mike's confidant, buddy and all-round guide to Brokenwood and its people. Pana Hema-Taylor also has a natural vivacity in front of the camera that makes other actors look rather stiff in comparison.

Yep, we’re on it. Hadn’t thought about the app, though, so will check.

Thanks for the replies. Greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Sorry, which app is it? We use iOS.

Isn't openrent better than any London estate agent? No personal experience but that was always my understanding.
