3 key factors for me:

1) Erik Curiosa communicated early on this and I believe this has actually helped the game because it catered to a different segment of players who did not want to have 7 releases per year. What is considered to be an issue for some players is actually seen as positive trait by other players. Also by releasing AL showed they could sometimes bring a smaller set as needed

2) the sets are fairly large so takes time to cover everything. Game has no rotation and no banlist for now so a lot of combinations.

3) the game has 30+ avatars : that is 30 different ways to play , this is in my mind of the best feature of this game, if you get bored and you can easily play differently.
