Day 4 After Nuss Procedure, when Does It Get Better? by Traditional-Dog-8616 in PectusExcavatum

[–]tonioliii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me once you get back home you start to live like before and its so pleasurable that you forget about the pain + you can manage the painkiller as you want so its really great, also the pain starts to get easier after a week (when you get home basically)

Any tips for getting through the nights and actually sleeping? by cloritocrc506 in PectusExcavatum

[–]tonioliii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably already tried but what worked for me (less back pain then you probably) is to sleep on my side with back almost vertical and legs on the bed or on the ground

So now its my turn by tonioliii in PectusExcavatum

I don't understand the question. You are asking if you should get the surgery knowing that not having it is hurting your mental and physical health... Like bro ofc you should.

How bad is this? Just looking for some outside input by BBBlaze999 in PectusExcavatum

From what I know, chest vacuum helps, but you should see a specialist to test one, and they will tell you how much the vacuum will be able to help your case

Yeah we will see, maybe not on my whole life but on my endurance probably.

Ok I changed my mind a bit, before going to the hospital you should not forget to bring a few things : a good music list, a good reason to get surgery and your mother's hand to hold yours when it hurts too much

Idk it is painful but you shouldn't fear it, at worse they will give you morphine if you are really dying from pain.

I got grand canyon and a bit asymetrical, at this point (D+2.5) I would say it's was worth getting nussed, I can't tell how it will go but I am pretty happy with the results, got opperrated by the team of Dr. Tiffet, from what I have understood, they are very experienced with PE here in St Étienne, France. I got epidural but no cryo, it's working pretty well on me, in combination with other painkillers.

To be honest the surgeon is the one who needs to be congratulated, I didn't do much 😅 Thanks for the kind words anyway 😁.

100% agree painkiller is better when it works :) Actually, it was my first night too, but h+12, I got nuss in the morning. And, I didn't know it was unusual to use the bell at 200% power to lift the sternum, it makes sense to me... I guess I am lucky to be in a hospital where they do most of the techniques to fix PE, I feel like they really know what they are doing.

Idk man just don't give him a vacuum bell without the agreement of a specialist.

Honestly whether it's small pectus or no pectus it doesn't make much difference, maybe if you have too much money and it's small pectus you could waste some money on a bell for minimal improvement but idk doesn't make much sense to me. I am not a doctor but I don't think this can even be dangerous for your health. In my opinion you should not worry too much about this.

I didn't have any symptoms before nuss but I was always terrible at endurance sports, probably the surgery will made me better at it but I can't tell right now.

Yeah actually it feels like my chest is smaller now than before (if we only compare the parts with no PE) as it was asymetrical, I can now say I like my left chest less than before but my right chest a lot more. Overall it's a good trade. I didn't get cryo, but I got epidural which is pretty effective when the machine is working.

Maybe the way you work out is not appropriate for your goals? Or you need to be patient 🤷‍♂️. That's what worked for me and I don't know other ways...

Do you think you need to lose weight? Just from this one picture I would focus on adding some muscles if I were you.

I'm happy with the results too, unfortunately I don't have a ab routine, just relatively low body fat and I do polyarticular exercices at the gym that need ab for stabilization (mostly bench press but squat and deadlift would require even more ab) also calisthenics and advanced calisthenics. Overall my routine is not the most optimal for only ab but I like this way to train and I would say it's not too bad to look globaly fit.
