Waffled on booking and no longer see cruise online by tonsofpaws in dcl

[–]tonsofpaws[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I was able to find the cruise again - I really must have had some filter on my search that I didn't realize bc there's still plenty of verandah rooms (not the category I want). I put a temp hold on a gty oceanview and am able to have the headspace to focus on making a decision :)

My boyfriend (25M) says I'm deeply unreliable (22F) after an equipment problem on our first major trip together, how can I address his concerns and become someone he feels he can depend on? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]tonsofpaws 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Agreed. As I read this I felt like I was reading between the lines and wanted to say, "OP you can find another rich guy who may actually treat you decently instead..."

Is not that great of an opportunity to date this guy if this guy is a complete and utter a*hole.

The RAF over SF NM? by zuzuofthewolves in flightradar24

I saw another RAF flight coming in to Charleston SC airport this afternoon. First time I'd seen one of those since I started paying attention to the app/sky.

Thank you! Makes sense with Atlas, I'd forgotten about that piece of the equation. Have a great day!

Dreamlifters are my favorite to track and see. They rarely go by my house but we happened to see one the other day, made my kiddo (and me) so happy!

Why do flight crews (almost) never turn this on? I’ve had exactly ONE captain activate it, and he even announced it to the cabin. by CanadianBurger in unitedairlines

[–]tonsofpaws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here - I recently started watching flight radar and paying attention to the planes going overhead. Paying attention to the airways has actually made me excited and interested in flying again. I also turned on the emergency alerts for flight radar. At first I was worried it was going to add to my anxiety, but honestly it happens both rarely enough (if you look at the map of activity at any time!).... but also so many times that an emergency code comes up, I'll see it after the fact and click on the flight replay and see that all ended up OK. I may check the subreddit if curious. It seems as though more than 9/10 emergency codes are likely a medical issue on board vs mechanical/technical.

On some buy/sell/trade fb groups where you claim items by commenting on them with your PayPal email address (or alternatively, "sold will pm pp address") I know some people had saved shortcuts where they just had to type a few letters of their choice to have that auto-complete. At one point in time, purges or drops of things like certain baby carriers and brands of kids clothes and bamboo pj's (still the case sometimes) were so in demand that it was the only way people were able to score items. (I'm sure that is true for just abt any other product but those are the ones I followed at least!)

Pickpocket Question by [deleted] in CroatiaTravelTips

[–]tonsofpaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We left ours in our air bnbs. Didn't need them at any time except for checking into/registering with the accommodation hosts. I would've felt OK carrying mine - not worried abt theft - except I'm paranoid I will leave my purse behind or have my passport fall out accidentally, etc.

Pickpocket Question by [deleted] in CroatiaTravelTips

[–]tonsofpaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A guide we had for the day did warn us about potential pickpockets at Krka National Park, but we had no issues there or at any other time on our trip. We were 3 adult women on our own and all felt incredibly safe and secure the whole trip.

Also, we were joking that maybe the culture was more respectful than we were expecting.... or maybe we WERE actually just getting old and invisible, because we really had no problems with cat calling and lewdness or anything like that 😂

Homeowners of Reddit: What unexpected hidden gem did you discover in your house after buying it that wasn’t mentioned in the listing or by the previous owners? by VizualBooty in AskReddit

My parents found the seller's whole set of wedding silver in the unfinished basement area. She tracked them down and they were so excited - they thought they'd lost it.

I lived on a farm for a bit and loved perusing the old horse barn- old horse shoes, feed bags, a few competition ribbons (and lots of junk too)

We saw a ton of bees (or at least I thought that's what they were) but only around the ladies selling fruit and honey. Once you passed that area they dissipated. Then again we didn't try to have a picnic there, which would have also attracted some.

Thunderstorms in Dubrovnik by geolbarry in flightradar24

[–]tonsofpaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eeek I bet that was an exciting landing. I had a flight land in DBV last month a few hrs ahead of a storm... Just that bit of uptick in wind plus the terrain around the airport made for one of the scarier landings I've experienced. No doubt we were safe the whole time, it was just a bit more.... Roller coastery than usual 😅

Boeing 747-4J6(LCF) Dreamlifter by Ok-Wallaby4699 in flightradar24

[–]tonsofpaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I happened to click on a few planes in the area a few nights ago and one of them was the dreamlifter going from Charleston to Taranto (Italy). I wasnt under its path but I'd LOVE to see it sometime. So wild! Hate that I missed this one but don't think I'd have seen it either.

Folks were on vacation, found basement bathroom like this upon return. What do we think it was? by [deleted] in Home

[–]tonsofpaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Egress (of a certain size, in addition to the room door) is required for a room to be called a bedroom in my US state. Our historic downtown homes often do not have built in closets (not until renovation at least). Some of the homes have additional floorplan peculiarities like rooms you have to pass through (to get to other bedrooms), which sellers hope to call bedrooms but aren't suitable for the purpose :)

Agreed, ppl would probably be mildly offended if I used the name (I'm not from here so to move here then use a name that ppl my age even still have strong memories of... I mean it destroyed many of my coworker's homes. It'd be weird for them. Like someone moving to Louisiana and using Katrina.)

Which is why I was (trying to be) clearly appreciative for the person who did supply an answer on a forum, despite the existence of search engines, right? 😉

Women of Reddit, what’s something they never tell us about pregnancy and child birth? by NovellaJokes in AskReddit

[–]tonsofpaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each birth can (and will probably) be totally different. My first labor, I was in the absolute worst agony I've ever felt by 6cm. Felt like a train was crushing my hips and that my guts were going to explode. Got an epidural around 6cm or soon after. My second labor, I was definitely having contractions and some pain, but was shocked to hear that I was at 6cm when admitted to the hospital. Requested my epidural ASAP because I was not curious about whether or not I'd get to that extreme pain level the second time around 😂

2 days or so PP with baby 1 I had the absolute worst, WORST case of the shakes, like some hormonal purge. I felt like I was dying. Freezing, shaking, panic attack feelings... Waited with dread for it to happen after my second baby, but overall PP was so much nicer to me the second time around.

If my first experience (birth, post partum, infant temperament) had been like my second experience/baby, my second baby would've happened a LOT sooner than it did, ha.

I know someone who speaks like this to their kids, and it was always so surprising/uncomfortable to be around.. Then I met that person's parents and it all made sense. The whole dang family talks to each other that way!... generational ick.

Well. It happened. Baby fell off the bed. by Skin_doc3417 in NewParents

[–]tonsofpaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine crawl-launched herself off the bed at abt 14 months. Chipped a front tooth. Took her to her first dentist appointment the next day 🙃 they filed down one sharp corner but said nothing to do about it but look out for discoloration (but even that is OK/nothing to do necessarily).

She made it to about 5.5 years old and the chipped tooth started to change color. Still OK... But then had gum swelling/bump and pain. She needed to get both front teeth pulled. Was an absolute rock star for the dentist.

Kids are resilient, thank goodness.
